Top quality and great value |
3999 Mission Boulevard San Diego, CA 92109 United States +1 858 539 8635 |
This five-star, award-winning restaurant features an atmosphere that is sophisticated and mildly tropical-flavored, part of the Polynesian-themed Catamaran Hotel. The chefs are creative, but never silly. The ingredients are combined because they work, whether it is the Chilled Cantaloupe Soup, served with Mango Garnish, or Colorado Lamb Potstickers with Spicy Sweet Sriracha Sauce. There are many inexpensive options, all prepared with care, including personal gourmet pizzas and a Fresh Ahi Tuna Sandwich with Arugula, Onions and Soy-Wasabi Aioli. Reservations are usually imperative. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Many people order these drinks to go, but there are a few tables where you can sit, sip and watch the world go by. Choose from an amazing combination of fresh fruits and vegetables and watch the employees juice it up right in front of your very eyes. Try the Big Squeeze Acai Bowl and innovative wheatgrass shots. Also available are salads (Bionics, Pico de Gallo), sandwiches and soft-serve non-fat frozen yogurt. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Airy and bright, this strip-mall restaurant manages to exude charm and a taste of the Greek islands. The restaurant offers a rich array of traditional dishes, plus some new creations. The Seafood Bisque ranks with the best. Salmon Dolmas (grape leaves stuffed with salmon) are a delightful variation on the old rice-and-tomato theme. Greek and Californian wines are available. An artful re-creation of Cycladic architecture greets visitors. On the walls are well-rendered views of Santorini by various artists. Outside, a handful of sidewalk tables encourage people watching. 722 Grand Avenue San Diego, CA 92109 United States +1 858 272 1999 |
Check out this lively, fun place to eat. Located next to a firehouse, its menu is enormous, including nachos, burgers, pasta, chicken and seafood. A favorite item is the Martini Pasta, which boasts dry vermouth among the sauce ingredients. As the name suggests, this restaurant has many spicy dishes, which are indicated on the menu with a chili pepper next to the dish. Some dishes get two chili peppers, like the Firehouse Wings. There are several daily specials like Margarita Mondays and a Bloody Mary bar on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The beautiful people of the "just over drinking age" set have discovered this small restaurant tucked within the favorite watering hole of Moose McGillycuddy's. Mexican food can be ordered a la carte or as combinations. One of the burritos (prices vary by ingredients requested and grilled to order) is enough to fill you up for an entire afternoon. For the less adventurous, hamburgers and fries are filling, grilled to order and inexpensive. Beer and wine and margaritas are available to cool down the spicy salsa. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Big time |
1520 Garnet Avenue San Diego, CA 92109 United States +1 858 270 4250 |
This restaurant is a favorite with both locals and visitors yearning for a taste of Germany. There are daily specials in the convenient takeaway deli and lunch and dinner. The Veal Jaeger Schnitzel is a special treat, but one can find all sorts of sausages, schnitzels, stews and roasts here, served with the traditional accompaniments. It is a lot of food, but fortunately, the restaurant offers an extensive selection of imported German beers to wash it all down. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Ocean Themed |
4551 Ocean Blvd San Diego, CA 92109 United States +1 858 270 5736 http://www.jrdn.com |
Gazing at Pacific beach, buzzing with surfers, bikers, and beachcombers, is only one of the delights of dining at JRDN, the restaurant on the Ocean-front ground floor of the swanky Tower 23 hotel. Aside from the excellent view and sweet ocean breezes, the food is delicious and the drink selection is excellent. The chef uses local produce and hand selected meats and seafood to prepare diverse dishes. The Lobster B.L.T., served with toasted brioche and tarragon aioli, comes bursting with fresh lobster meat, along with a side of yummy fries. Though exorbitant drink rates might sting, the food is very reasonably priced. The indoor bar area has a pleasant, poshy ambiance of its own, echoing the sea with walls made of white chrome shaped into vertical waves. Take a trip to the bathroom to check out the funky design, and rather special automatic hand driers (with slots for your hands for quality air drying). - Molly Watts Review © 2007, Wcities |

Not Micael Jordan's restaurant!!! |
723 Felspar Street Garnet Avenue San Diego, CA 92109 United States +1 858 270 5736 http://www.jrdn.com/serving/up... |
Also listed in its 'SMS-esque' abbreviated form JRDN, Jordan Restaurant has a great view on offer along with a delectable meal. The dining experience is further enhanced by the cuisine served. Those who love meat and abhor veggies will find themselves visiting this place again. American steakhouse favorites are readily available off the menu with a special contribution by the chef. The decor is very modern and asks for a semi formal kind of dressing. Tables available are family friendly or can also be set up for quiet dinners. Review © 2007, Wcities |

If you dine here you will agree with those who describe Thai food as sensual, because the spicy entrees at this eatery are very sensual indeed. There is a wide and varied menu that offers well-prepared classic dishes such as Paht Thai, Mee Krob and other Siamese favorites. The Grilled Barbecued Chicken is outstanding and well worth a try. All of these culinary delights are served in a pleasant and friendly atmosphere. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Breakfast's Up, Dude |

Kono's serves up a beach breakfast that's popular with locals and tourists alike, which can lead to an intimidating line- but it moves quickly and there are surf videos to watch and quotes of the week to laugh about. If customers choose to walk outside (burgers and other lunch foods are available, and breakfast is served all day), their meal comes with a view: the ocean and all the characters strolling by. Kono's is as casual as the beach, and plates are big and inexpensive. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Here is a cheerful food shop making an art out of food to go. Yearning for meatloaf like Mamma used to make? She must have been something if she made it like this: beef, pork, and veal expertly seasoned, combined with apple wood-smoked bacon and topped with a tangy glaze. Need something to top it all off? Try a slice of Chocolate Decadence or the homemade Crème Brule. The venue also offers a selection of condiments, domestic and imported, including an array of mustards, balsamic vinegars and other culinary delights. Deluxe late-night dining |
3768 Mission Boulevard San Diego, CA 92109 United States +1 858 488 7311 http://www.saskas.com/ |
This place is a shrine to the steak and eating well. The Saska is a 10-ounce piece of top sirloin steak, broiled perfectly by chefs who know the difference between rare and medium rare. There is also a huge selection of sushi, sashimi and combination platters, with the signature Dynamite Lobster, a choice tail served in spicy Dynamite sauce. Service is casual but competent and friendly. Vaguely Nouveau Deco and very pink exterior contrasts with the solidly traditional red leather booths and steaks that are the mainstay of this restaurant. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Step inside this authentic Indian venue and you will swear you are in Delhi or Mumbai. The atmosphere is low-key and the cuisine is refreshingly authentic. Tan and brown colors greet you in the dining room, from the walls to the conservative pictures. White tablecloths are the exception to this color scheme, accompanied by a white vase of flowers on every table. On the menu, Tandoori specialties are popular, including the Chicken Garlic Kabab and Tandoori Shrimp. Vegetarians may consider Bengan Bhartha, offering eggplant, peas, onions, garlic, ginger and tomatoes. Review © 2007, Wcities |

This venue offers a more laid-back attitude than many of the bars that hug the beach. There are three pool tables, 30 televisions, eight satellites, darts and pinball, Disc Jockeys, dancing and a breezy, beachfront patio. Food is good and served in large portions. Look for entrees like steak, baked chicken, ribs, ziti, fish tacos and oyster shooters. There are 13 beers on tap. Drink specials are offered Monday through Friday from 4p-7p. This is truly a Southern California beach bar. Review © 2007, Wcities |
