Opened in 1969, Brigantine Seafood Restaurant has gained a reputation for serving great sefood. Enjoy your cocktails and meal on the heated outdoor deck, which offers a panoramic view of the Shelter Island boatyards. There are five other Brigantine Seafood restaurants spread over the San Diego County. All locations offer fabulous fresh fish and have rocking oyster bars. The Del Mar Brigantine is a favorite singles spot, and Coronado's Oyster Bar is hotspot in the evenings. This chain of restaurants is slightly expensive but worth a visit. If you like good bread, this is the place for you. Bread is baked fresh daily without additives, preservatives, fats, oils or sugars. Daily breads include French Levain Batard, and kalamata olive. Specialty breads are cranberry-orange walnut, challah and Gruyere and chive. The bakeshop/cafe is a great place to have lunch while enjoying the aromas and watching the people in Point Loma Village. This family-owned restaurant is located in the center of Point Loma. There are two dining rooms decorated in 1950s "family Italian." The setting is old style and so is the service. All dishes are homemade, including the bread. Hot sandwiches include Meatballs Parmigiano, Sausage Parmigiano and Provolone & Peppers. The food is great and so are the boat and people watching. This "little" place is located on the boardwalk next to H&M Landing, one of the busiest sport-fishing docks on the West Coast. Seating consists of five outside stools that overlook the sport-fishing boats. If you are late catching your boat, order the Grab & Go sub. This is a great place to enjoy casual dockside dining and watch the fishing boats. The interior is cozy and warm with plenty of windows to watch the sport-fishing action. The outside seating consists of stools on the balcony overlooking the piers. Breakfast offers biscuits and gravy, a deck-hand breakfast and seafood omelets. Lunch includes an array of sandwiches on fresh baked bread, as well as fish platters and salads. Try the fresh-grilled dinner, the Chorizo Black Bean Soup and the Clam Chowder. Located in a vintage wood-frame house, this comfortably furnished coffeehouse also offers an elevated, street-side patio area for sipping and people watching. A popular cram spot for students from the nearby Nazarene College, it also attracts tourists from the many nearby motels and residents from the fine old houses off the side streets. Coffee is king here or you could try the Iced Cafe Mazatlan on a hot day.
