Featuring homemade pate |
1733 South Coast Highway San Diego, CA 92054 United States +1 760 722 7006 http://www.atasteofeurope.com |
Dining here is an elegant experience, but not overdone. White cloths drape over the tables, while subtle artwork covers the walls. This is an ideal location for couples or businesspeople, who desire a dining experience that is upscale, yet unceremonious. Homemade pate is a featured appetizer, along with Escargots aux Champignons (snails cooked in garlic and butter, served in mushroom caps). For your entree, try the Oven-Roasted Rack of Lamb, served with potatoes, red cabbage and vegetables. Trout (covered with almonds and served with rice and vegetables) is another customer favorite. Tuscan taste translated |
322 Fifth Avenue Gaslamp San Diego, CA 92101 United States +1 619 230 0382 http://www.acquaal2.com/ |
The awkward name may work against this new addition to the downtown dining scene, but the fine, authentic food may carry the day. Even the restaurant's Web site is hosted in Italy, where a sister restaurant reigns supreme in Firenze. The warm yet unmistakably European atmosphere is part Tuscan villa, part art gallery and makes customers immediately feel "in the know". Tagliata Pasta, cheeses imported from Tuscany and herb-infused olive oils are the staples here. The extensive Italian wine list is heavy on red wines. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Masala is an Indian restaurant like no other. Here, an appetizer of naan and hummus is called "Love Story" (referring to the love between bread and dip). Little touches like this make dinner at Masala an experience to cherish. The décor blends contemporary chic with a dash of traditional Indian imagery. There is a whole menu just for chutney choices (try the date, the cranberry, the banana, the mango or the mint). The lengthy lists of chicken and lamb entrees (curried, tandooried or otherwise) will make you salivate. A number of fresh seafood specialties and luscious vegetarian dishes round out the offerings, and don't forget that the bar area rivals anything in the area in terms of downtown attitude. San Diego locals flock to this storefront Italian restaurant. The interior decor is elegant with white tablecloths, fresh flowers and glass place settings. Yet, even with fine decor, the atmosphere is low-key. The tables are in close proximity to one another and the back wall is home to a bar where diners may wait for a free table. Plentiful servings of pasta are the key entree. Guests may try Lasagna, Angelhair or Linguine Pastas. The Linguine served with Seafood is particularly popular. Other favorites include Veal and Grilled Calamari. Review © 2007, Wcities |
