State Route 79 (Ten miles northwest of Julian) San Diego, CA 92070 +1 760 765 0810 http://www.missiontrailtoday.com/code/mission01a.htm |
While this mission is smaller than many other California missions, the church holds a notable Southwestern-style architecture. Built in 1818, the mission continues to serve the Santa Ysabel community today. Within the white, adobe walls, red-tile roof and wooden doors, you will find a tiny museum showcasing local artifacts. A cemetery is also located at the mission. In addition, the mission holds a long history of traditional activities. Father's Day is celebrated each year with a barbecue, music, games and American Indian dancing. Review © 2009, Wcities |
