Founded in 1967, this was one of the first restaurants to elevate Mexican food as a cuisine worthy of intelligent enjoyment. Comfortable interior with a warm fireplace shuts away the bustle of La Jolla Boulevard, though an outdoor patio exists for those who want to dine al fresco. The fresh avocado guacamole is prepared table-side here. If you have never had guacamole fresh and well made, this item alone will be worth your trip.
