Each August the Alameda Recreation and Park Department hosts a 10 kilometers race benefiting local parks and programs. The route circles Alameda, a flat island city on the San Francisco Bay, and offers great views of the San Francisco skyline along Alameda Beach. The race costs $15, a price that includes a souvenir T-shirt, and is open to beginning and expert runners and walkers. The race begins at 9a in the parking lot of the South Shore Shopping Center, located at Otis Drive and Park Street in Alameda. Call +1 510 748 4565 to pre-register. Participants are also welcome to sign up early on race day at the start location.
