Gastronom is Russian for meal and when San Francisco's large Russian emigre community wants a meal that reminds them of home, they turn to this delicatessen. Find ready-made stuffed cabbage, smoked fish, piroshkis, blintzes and a wonderful Russian-style yogurt that is tart and pourable. For those wanting to make a meal from scratch, it is one of the few places in the City to get Russian-style farmer's cheese.
