The Goethe-Institut- named for German writer Johann Wolfgang Goethe (1749 - 1832)- is a premier cultural center promoting awareness of German culture and heritage. The Institut (with offices world-wide) has a year round calendar with artistic and educational events fostering cross-cultural dialogs throughout the Bay Area. The Goethe-Institut offers comprehensive German language courses for beginners as well as fluent speakers looking to maintain their skills.
