For the ultimate outdoor musical experience, pack up a picnic and enjoy the beautiful scenery atop Mt. Tamalpais while rocking out to the tunes of the 60's. Mountain Play presents Hair, the musical that follows a group of hippies or, "The Tribe," living under the umbrella of the ever-so-present threat of the Vietnam War. Reveling in their bohemian lifestyle, which includes drugs, sex and what else, rock-and-roll, the long haired, free-loving cast puts on quite a show complete with popular tunes, "Aquarius" and "Hair," which is cause for audience members to dance and sing along to their celebrated favorites. Hair premiered in 1967 and has since been a sort of anthem for the hippie lifestyle. Mountain Play's beautiful outdoor amphitheatre is a perfect setting for this iconic musical. Feels more like camping than attending a Broadway musical, but that just adds to the antics. The panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco Bay frame the stage. A reminder of the hippie culture out west. Look around and you will see children of the revolution, all grown up and thoroughly enjoying the nostalgic celebration of a moment in time.
