One Man's Poison... |
1131 Polk Street (between Post & Sutter Streets) San Francisco, CA 94109 +1 415 923 0923 http://www.hemlocktavern.com/ |
Come for the cheap drinks, stay for the rockin' jukebox. The Hemlock attracts a diverse crowd of mostly hipster and rocker types. The bar itself is a 360° walk-around on two different levels and there are tables, chairs and wall-bench seats. Seating is scarce at night and during live shows, and it can be difficult to get a drink. Hot peanuts are served for $1 for your snacking pleasure. There is also a mostly-enclosed, heated smoking lounge for the self-polluting. Hemlock is a Polk Street dive bar where you might not come up for air. But so what, we all have to go sometime, and Hemlock worked for Socrates and it may as well work for you. Live music plays in the back 5-6 nights a week. There is no cover charge to get into the bar, but a cover is typically charged to enter the music room. This is strictly a 21 and over bar. Review © 2009, Wcities |
