42 Degrees

A better latitude
235 16th St
San Francisco, CA 94107
United States
+1 415 777 5558
This place is almost like a big garage, with floor-to-ceiling glass panels that open horizontally to an outdoor courtyard. There are plenty of tables for dining alfresco. The excellent food here is inspired by the 42 degree latitude on which the Mediterranean rests and includes fresh fish, bowls of marinated olives of many varieties, artisan cheese plates, and lots of fresh, crusty bread are served. The wine list is equal to the cuisine, both representing the many countries of this latitude and some evenings, live jazz is performed to complete your cultural immersion.

Bella Pizza

Great selection
4124 Geary Boulevard
San Francisco, CA 94118
United States
+1 415 668 4150
If you just cannot decide on a type of cuisine you are in the mood for, then this is the spot for you. Seeing Spanikopita and Tortellini on the same menu offers its own unique charm. This casual eatery, done up in a classic Italian restaurant motif, has Pan-Mediterranean offerings to go with its delightful selection of pizzas. The pizza crust is not too thick, not too thin and you can choose from a variety of toppings to top your pie. In addition, there are pasta dishes done to perfection, steaks cooked to order and even English-style fish and chips. The crowd is mostly locals, students and families.

San Francisco, CA 94301
United States
+1 650 326 0983
This wildly popular eatery serves up elegant Greek cuisine in a tidy storefront with linen-topped tables and an open kitchen that's warm and inviting. Locals love the daily fish specials, assertively seasoned with lemon, olive oil and bay leaves in perfect proportions, succulent dishes of braised lamb or beef surrounded by saffron rice, the luscious Spanikopita bursting with spinach and feta, and the hearty Moussaka with its rich layers of slow-cooked beef and cheese. For dessert, try the flaky and sweet Baklava. The service is quick and friendly.

Greco Romana

Pizza & gyros
2448 Clement Street
San Francisco, CA 94121
United States
+1 415 387 0626
This casual and family-friendly restaurant specializes in both Greek and Italian food, yet the Greek cuisine gets overshadowed by its award-winning pizzas. Contemporary group atmosphere is featured here so bring the whole family. The interior is bright and airy with picture windows that look out onto Clement Street. It has been crowned no.1 two years in a row at the San Francisco Fairs Premier Pizza Contest, an event not short of competition. Some say it is the best because it uses handmade dough, whole milk mozzarella, and fresh gourmet toppings like prosciutto, pine nuts, provolone, feta, kalamata olives and clams. Other house specialties include Gyros, Greek and Italian entrees and daily specials.

Kokkari Estiatorio

Classic, yet contemporary
200 Jackson Street
At the corner of Front Street
San Francisco, CA 94111
United States
+1 415 981 0983
http://www.kokkari.com/
The success of this Levi's Plaza favorite could be attributed to many things. Maybe, it is the decor that includes huge open fireplaces and long wooden tables. Or probably, it is the quality of the food - even the most jaded socialites admit that it is flawless. Or maybe, it is just that, in a city full of various Thai, Japanese, Mexican and Chinese eateries, it is nice to see something different. Find rustic Hellenic food with a modern presentation on the menu here with things like Moussaka, Pikilia, and Tzatziki like you have never tasted before. Of course, the lamb selection here is juicy, tasty, and filling.

This eatery, located right next to the Golden Gate Park, is a typical neighborhood joint that serves up some great Greek and Mediterranean fare. Everything from salads, soups, wraps and kebabs is on offer here. You can dig into the authentic Greek Mousaka or then try out the various kebabs served with salad, rice and pita bread. Seal Rock Inn Restaurant

International omelets
545 Point Lobos Avenue
San Francisco, CA 94121
United States
http://www.sealrockinn.com/res...
This Point Lobos restaurant isn't just for Seal Rock Inn guests. The owners would never deprive others of its ocean view or eclectic cuisine. A wonderful choice for breakfast, it serves an international assortment of omelets. Choose from Greek, with feta and fresh spinach, or Italian served with salami, Italian cheese and onions. Maybe you prefer Spanish, bell peppers, onions, celery, tomatoes and cheese, or spicy Mexican, with sausages, jack cheese and jalapeno pepper. On a different note, the French omelet with fruit, sour cream and pine nuts is a change of pace. For lunch and dinner it offers Greek dishes such as Gyros, Shish-ka-bob and hamburgers with feta cheese.
