Chinatown

Neighborhood with Non-Stop Bustle
Grant Avenue at Bush Street
San Francisco, CA 94108
United States
http://www.sanfranciscochinato...
One of the busiest areas of the city, Chinatown is a hodgepodge of shops, restaurants, and businesses of every kind. The vibrant and close-knit community that lives within this neighborhood has also made it one of San Francisco's top tourist destinations. With over 80,000 residents (plus countless tourists) traversing the streets, it is no wonder that the sidewalks can become precarious during rush hour. Thankfully, there are many side streets, quiet shops, and traditional restaurants that provide some relief from the bustle outside. Try your luck at one of the hundreds of dining options in the area, especially those serving Dim Sum, as they can be some of the best in the city. Also make sure to stop in some of the small herbal shops for some unusual trinkets and art.

Citrus Club

International noodles
1790 Haight Street
(at the corner of Shrader Street)
San Francisco, CA 94117-2808
United States

Step off Haight Street into this soothing low-lit cafe/bar. Beer, microbrews and a great selection of sakes offer thirst quenching. Hunger, on the other hand, will be more than satisfied by the wide range of noodle dishes. Generous portions of recipes from all over the Asian continent give you more than enough sustenance to brave the Haight again when your meal is through. As the name implies, many dishes here are seasoned with citrus to enhance the spicy flavors. Favorite dishes include Coconut chicken with spicy lemon, and noodles with garlic and shiitake mushrooms.

Rice Table

Tasty Asian cuisine
1617 Fourth Street
San Francisco, CA 94901
United States
+1 415 456 1808
This popular dining venue is one of the oldest places for authentic rijstafel, a delicious invention by the Dutch colonists in Indonesia. Ten small dishes are served with a mound of rice, enough for a taste of everything from flavorful satays to coconut curries to chicken in tamarind sauce to salty pickled vegetables. Everything prepared by the friendly family that has run this place for 25 years is cooked with care and is delicious. You can also order regular meals of just one dish, though it can be hard to choose from among all the selections. The ambiance re-creates a tropical mood with batik decorations, island flute music playing, and bamboo embellishments, making a perfect backdrop for your feast.

ZAO Noodle Bar

Find health in a bowl
2406 California Street
(at the corner of Fillmore Street)
San Francisco, CA 94115
United States

Pacific Heights is not usually a very ecomonical place. There are exceptions to that rule and this is one. Inside, wheat-colored walls and wood furniture give a warm glow to the place, with window tables as well as outside seating, and plenty of fresh air. The food is delicious. Thai-style Curry-Coconut Prawns is spicy, sweet and soul satisfying. Vietnamese Rice Noodles with Vegetables is like a bowl full of springtime. You can taste the restaurant's commitment to quality in every steaming bowl. The service is quick and personable. Note: Locations throughout the Bay Area.
