This tiny bakery attracts locals and tourists alike with an interesting and delicious assortment of traditional Japanese sweets including Mochi. This sweet cake is made from rice pounded to a consistency that is a bit like both pudding and gelatin, but is uniquely satisfying. Try Shiratama, dumplings made of rice powder and red beans that is not entirely unlike a sweet-potato pie. You can also get an excellent slice of cake. The service is traditionally Japanese: cheerful and attentive. With only five tables, though, you may have to get your order to-go. Cash only. Review © 2009, Wcities |
