The colors of a tropical sunset and the excellent service set the stage at this trendy eatery and that is only right for a place that turns out exceptional Caribbean and Creole cuisine. The feeling is airy with tables well spaced on a black-and-white tiled floor that adds a piquant retro-note. Even airier is the patio that has been dubbed the "Best Place for Outdoor Dining" by the East Bay Express. The crowds of professionals and college students get into the island spirit with Pawpaw, a delicious pastiche of Grilled fresh papaya, curried vegetables and fontina cheese. For a little of everything, there is the Caribbean Sampler, which includes Saltcod-potato Croquettes, Polenta Cakes with Wild Mushroom Sauce and Spiced Chickpeas.
