Moroccan flavors hang heavy in the air. Ethnic clothing and accessories for the gypsy at heart, is what one would find at Alhambra. The collection will appeal to followers of European fashion. Jewelry inlaid with precious and semi precious stones are on display and go well with their flowing skirts or enticing tunics. Footwear freaks can feast on their delectable range. On the whole a delightful experience to browse through their stuff and if you are ready to splurge-go ahead! For those with a tight budget try their warehouse in Pike Place market but you may have to do with last season's leftovers.

Arcade Smoke Shop

Comprehensive basement tobacconist
1522 Fifth Avenue, Suite 101
Seattle, WA 98101-1698
United States
+1 206 587 0159
When the grand old department store Frederick and Nelson's closed down a few years back, the tobacconist in its basement Arcade had to move out. Luckily, it only moved a few blocks, to another basement location. The fluorescent lighting detracts from the smoky glamour, but if you're a serious nicotine fan, you won't care. Paraphernalia include lacquered wooden humidors, gleaming silver Zippo lighters, shiny wooden Dunhill pipes, and metal and leather cigarette and cigar cases. And, yes, it sells plenty of cigars, pipe tobacco and cigarettes, too.

+1 206 292 0660
Nestled between hotels and restaurants in downtown Seattle, this boutique may seem like a hole-in-the-wall establishment, but it is as precious as the clothing and jewelry it sells. The store sells everything from embroidered sweaters to Capri pants to necklaces with semi-precious stones. It also offers Victorian wedding garments and sparkly hair accessories. The decor here is unlike anywhere else. The original brick walls are still intact, and woven ivory sheets hang loosely from wooden beams to create a casual dressing room. The clothing is both feminine and funky.

The floor-to-ceiling shelves (complete with ladders for access), the winding back rooms and the vertigo-inducing loft are all crammed with used and rare treasures. The selection ranges from specialties like Bukowski and the Beat poets to cheap sci-fi and military history. There's something for everyone, and what the shop lacks in comfort (glaring fluorescent lighting, no seats for relaxing), it makes up for in affordability. The shop has a decent Internet ordering service, too.

Independent vendors sell jewelry and other knick-knacks from pushcarts, and there are indispensable services such as a video rental shop, a shoe repair shop, and a florist. In downtown Fremont, just a block down from Lenin himself, this all-in-one pleasure stop offers a wide array of cigars, rolling tobacco, cigarettes, pipes and magazines. In addition to the basic accoutrements of a tobacco shop, the place sells knives, both utilitarian and display-quality, and blown-glass smoking accessories. One of the best places in town to pick up a Puros Indios No.2 from Honduras or a Nicaraguan Al Capone, it is the happy purveyor of simple, self-indulgent delights.

There are 20 stores in all and a few eating establishments, including the very popular Palomino, and of course, there is a Starbucks. The small City Centre Cinema has closed, with only indefinite plans to reopen.

Nurses and young moms love these clunky, chunky shoes called clogs because they are simple, easy and give great back support. In that spirit, this shop keeps things basic with nothing but a few benches and two walls lined with the sturdy peasant footwear. Most of the selection is Scandinavian, with a fine showing by the ever-popular, and even stylish, Dansko brand. Get a pair and feel righteous about your spine.

A Seattle designer who's done well enough to open shops in New York and San Francisco, Stenderu specializes in brightly hand-painted casual wear. Think tie-dyed T-shirts, only darker and more skillfully rendered than the typical backyard product. The shop is full of clunky jewelry and bric-a-brac, but it's the vivid duds that really catch the eye. A single piece, no matter how small, is sufficient to make a very loud statement.

What's more, find that ancient wooden wardrobe you always wanted and upholstery too, right here. Off late they have also started offering factory seconds with new leather sofas replacing some old stuff. From its 30-acre lake and pristine meadows to the gun bunkers, this park operates as an informative exploration area and a fully functioning conference center. The park also includes beach camping, a marine science center, a boat launch and Blackberries Restaurant. A separate cafeteria hosts up to 400 diners, and inexpensive lodgings are available. With summer music events, four different museums and acres of trails, this park gets crowded on summer weekends. Make reservations well in advance if you plan to stay overnight.

In business since 1912, this upscale jeweler works both sides of the divide between traditional and contemporary jewelry. For traditionalists, the shop carries large lines from staid jewelry manufacturers like Alex Sepkus, Gurhan, Mikimoto, and Mark Patterson. And for those seeking new twists, the shop stocks whimsical and traditional watches from Panerai and Ulysse Nardin. The shop also commissions its own designs, which feature platinum and 18-karat gold.

Find a fabulous zoot suit or a zippy pair of orange platform boots. Accessories are often from the 40s and 50s. Think hand made beads, sequins and ornate styling. Those with a fearless sense of style should check out the bargain balcony. With a little imagination, the scarves of yesteryear could become a whole new wardrobe.

In the early 70s, Marvin and Ruth Mohl opened their mall built from salvaged buildings, including old shops, houses, barns and granaries. They encouraged independent businesses with favorable rental agreements and continue to do so today. In the shadow of the Cascades, customers walk the cedar boardwalks and the brick sidewalks, shopping for shoes, snowboards and clocks among myriad other items at the more than 40 upscale retail shops. The shopping experience provides counterpoint to the glitter of the big malls. Restaurants such as Nicolino offer respite from the pace, which even here can get frenzied.

Tucked away on the upper reaches of University Way is this little delight of a bookstore, which makes up for what it lacks in size through sheer over-crowded clutter. Specializing in humanities (literature through theology), it offers very reasonable prices and the buy-back rate is generous if you have titles to unload. Be aware of the lunch hour, as the sleepy staff is notorious for taking long lunches, well past the allotted time.

The store isn't much to look at outside, and inside it's downright rustic, with bare wood and cardboard, but the enormous selection of used vinyl records, CDs and cassettes is unparalleled in the area. The store specializes in oldies, but it carries everything from hard rock to country to carnival music and other obscure categories. Prices may seem a little high for used merchandise, but the shop's access to more than 10 million titles means it has (or can find), what you want. Call for branch information.

It's got battlements and stone lions, but the entire facade disguises a Pan-Asian shopping mall in the Seattle-Tacoma suburban corridor. Here, you can get practically anything and everything Asian - foodstuff, such as live fish and dried seaweed at the 99 Ranch Market, treats, such as tapioca pearl iced tea at Mak's, and therapeutic goods such as Indonesian bird's nest at Pacific Herb and Grocery. Get your hair styled, take out a loan, eat a bowl of noodles, flip through a Chinese tabloid and buy some Pokémon cards. Then find your car in the immense parking lot to tote it all home.
