Big, elegant Capitol Hill church

You can see the gilt-tipped dome of this church from miles around, giving the Pike-Pine area a slightly Byzantine look. Since this is Capitol Hill, the church is less an authoritarian institution and more a venue that happily blends the sacred and the secular. The circular central space under the dome is often used for concerts, while the basement hosts all manner of events from parties to irreverent theater.
