Seattle's Central District has a slightly daunting reputation, but it also boasts this homey restaurant that dishes up southern cooking at its finest and at prices that can't be beat. This old, somewhat worse for wear, building obviously has lots of love poured into it. Posters of favorite events and people crowd the walls, and the lamps and tables all seem to have come from someone's home. The reason people come here in droves is because the food is outstanding. The eatery serves breakfast, lunch and dinner from a menu that includes traditional southern dishes like fried catfish, pork chops and fried chicken. Each item is served with side dishes that include yams and black-eyed peas. You wouldn't expect to pay your mother with a credit card, so don't expect to do it here either (none are accepted).
