Seattle |
Sandwiched between mountains and lake to the southeast of Seattle, Newcastle is one of the oldest communities in its area. Due to the presence of coal, Newcastle developed quickly in the 1800s but has undergone a significant transformation from those rough beginnings. For example, what was once the Newcastle dump is now the site of the popular and pristine Golf Club at Newcastle. Like many suburbs in the area, Newcastle is largely a prosperous, residential community providing access to downtown Seattle, but maintaining its own pace as well. Review © 2009, Wcities |
