Comprised of the neighborhoods surrounding its namesake mall, Northgate is home to Haller Lake, Seattle's first mosque, North Seattle Community College and, of course, the oldest covered mall in America, built in 1950. Maple Leaf is a small subdivision of Northgate, named for its early woodworking industry; this neighborhood still has some of the oldest furniture and carpentry shops in the country. Also located in Northgate is the Sheihk Idriss Mosque, a distinctive and impressive building constructed in a traditional Middle Eastern style. Review © 2009, Wcities |
