Large, elegant church on First Hill |
1111 Harvard Avenue (corner of Harvard Avenue and Seneca Street) Seattle, WA 98122 +1 206 325 6051 http://www.seattlefirstbaptist.org/ |
Located on First Hill, this church is one of the oldest in the city. Founded in 1869, it held its first service in a private home. New members were baptized in cold Elliott Bay. The first real church was destroyed in the fire of 1899, and the present church completed construction in 1912. The design of the church is typical for the era: large, solid and impressive. The interior has lovely stained glass. Services are held Sundays at 11a, with a noted choir and a children's music program. Review © 2009, Wcities |
