With blond wood, dark green accents, wicker chairs, magazine racks and perky baristas, these coffeehouses imitate and therefore rival Starbucks. Young urban professionals flock here, lugging cell phones and laptops. Teenagers have nervous first dates here. Stay-at-home moms meet friends for midmorning snacks, children in tow. Tully's coffee is a bit less bitter than Starbucks, and the company hasn't yet followed the sandwich-cafe concept of the Cafe Starbucks bistros, but other than that, the experience is similar. Branches, of course, are everywhere.
