Seattle |
This large neighborhood was actually its own small town a century ago, but it is now part of Greater Seattle. The area's growth over past decades has caused parts of West Seattle to be considered separate neighborhoods. Alki Beach, the landing place of Seattle's founders, is the best known of these related neighborhoods, and the beach certainly helps draw many of the tourists who flock here each summer. Many hotels and apartment rentals are available for vacationers, but they fill up fast in the warmer months, so make arrangements early. The only old-growth forest left in Seattle can be found at Schmitz Park, south of Alki Beach. Review © 2009, Wcities |
