Two screens |
Calle Pagés del Corro y Salado Seville 41010 Spain +34 95 427 8064 http://www.cineciudad.com/ |
One of the few cinemas located in the Triana district. It has two small screens with 100 seats in each. Originally it used to be where they showed VO (subtitled) films instead of dubbing them. Now you will find it a little neglected in the quality of the sound and the image. It does not have wheelchair access. It's very close to the Guadalquivir river and the centre of Sevillian nightlife at the weekends. Close to the cinema you will be able to find pubs and restaurants of national and international reputation. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Oil paintings |
Calle Mariano de Cavia 4 Seville 41001 Spain +34 95 456 1084 |
The technique most often-used by the artists who exhibit in this gallery is that of oil on canvas. The exhibitions last about two months. These young artists show marked influences from the Vanguardism of the 1930's. The paintings can almost be described as abstract, and use a limited range of colours. There are also exhibitions of representational art, including still-lifes and landscapes, with personal touches such as using thick paint work. The use of colour is interesting especially in the landscapes, as the artists almost always choose tones from the same range of colours. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Mainly Surrealist paintings |
Calle Virgen de Luján 39 Seville 41011 Spain |
This gallery exhibits a great number of works by a number of different artists. The exhibitions last one month. Among the many styles on display here, you can see fantastical and surreal iconographs that have the ability to transport the observer to a dream-like world, just as Dalí did with his work. There are faces and people in these pictures that are like monsters, although they do not cause fear nor unpleasant feelings, since the imaginative young artists responsible for them manage to give them an ironic twist. The pictures also contain strange configurations and elements such as flowers and plants that use a wide range of colours full of contrasts. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The walls are painted in different eye catching colors and contrast beautifully baroque-style lamps. From 11p onwards there is a room that is ideal for chatting with friends, and another where more up-to.day music is played. Sundays you can enjoy Flamenco shows, which take place in the evening. Orange has also a no smoking area, something that can be very difficult to find in the city. -Joaquín Montaño Review © 2007, Wcities |

A new outook for your nights in Seville |
Calle Procurador 19 Seville 41010 Spain |
If you like a healthy atmosphere permeated with an artistic aura, this is your place. The Sala El Cachorro, better known as La Ortiga, is a peaceful and environmentally-friendly bar. In the afternoon, you can admire their art exhibitions while having tea or coffee. Later on, if you get hungry, they have Greek vegetable or chicken pitas, both cooked with a secret sauce. Or if you prefer, they have potatoes in a spicy sauce, among other options. To drink try what they call Llín (Botellín - small beer), a chilled beer. Don't worry, because the friendly owner, María, will understand you no matter how you order it. At night you can almost always catch a show (theatre, comedy, acoustic music or fire show) in the indoors patio. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Sculpture and paintings |
Calle Albareda 17 Seville 41001 Spain +34 95 421 6708 |
Among the artwork exhibited here you can find watercolours and a large number of sculptures. The exhibitions change every month. Entering the terrain of cubism, the artists change the language of the painting by geometrizing the shapes. Stretching the perspectives emphasises the figures compared to the background. With regard to the sculptures, which are also influenced by cubism, you can observe a concept of space that does not follow traditions, in which the importance given to empty spaces is one of the predominant features, especially in the pieces that use metal. You can find impressive works of art displayed here together with very well defined and sensual volumes. Review © 2007, Wcities |
