Latin American lit, history, & anthro |
Calle de Don Alfonso El Sabio Seville 41004 Spain |
Ángel, one of the owners, says it as clearly as possible: here there is a subtle love for books that almost goes unnoticed. Together with his twin brother Manolo, he has run this specialized bookstore, located at the end of Siete Revueltas (Seven Turns), in the Alfalfa neighborhood. Those who love Spanish and Portuguese language literature will not leave empty-handed, given that this bookstore specializes in any hard to find item from Latin America and in Peruvian and Argentinian editions. Here editions by Mistral, anthropology of the Andes, everything by Saramago, and the most current writings all come to rest, albeit momentarily. In addition, they have a wide selection of magazines of the Arts, Philosophy, Humanities and so on, and a window displaying their latest adquisitions. Close to the "golden mile," in the busy Luis Montoto Street, this large windowed establishment, where you can find everything for computers, engineering, and the various sciences resides.Although it does not specialize in Humanities, there are also a wide range of "best sellers" and other types of books. With wide open spaces and good lighting to find what you're looking for, the bookstore has a very 21st Century look to it. Although it may seem somewhat impersonal to you, there are manuals that you can only find here, and good advice and service. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Literature for everyone's pockets |
Calle Almirante Apodaca 23-25 Seville 41003 Spain +34 95 421 4084 |
This small bookstore is on the way for anyone going to or from downtown. In front of the Hemeroteca Municipal (Municipal Newspaper Library) and next to one of the most popular bars in the city, El Tremendo, it is difficult not to notice their window displays, especially the covers of the film or music books, while you're drinking your "suds". The prices aren't too different from the rest of the city's bookstores, and here you can find above all best sellers, recent publications, novels, and paperback books. The advantage to shopping here is that since it is a small store, the clerks are helpful and they will aid you in finding that book you've been looking for. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Literary treasures and old editions |
Calle Mateos Gago 27 Seville 41004 Spain +34 95 422 0728 |
Located in the heart of the historical center of the city, in the cobbledstoned Mateos Gago, and a stone's throw away from the Cathedral, more than one tourist has been spotted peering through its windows without quite knowing what it was that was hiding behind its simple door. In addition to being a buy-and-sell bookstore, in this warehouse of knowledge you can find the publishing company that bears the same name. Second hand books, first editions, facsimiles, uncataloged books and much more. The owner brought thousands of editions from New York that he has been cataloging and arranging in this store for the delight of specialists and lovers of Letters. His archives are computerized, so it will be easy for you to find what you're looking for, although it actually is more pleasant to lose yourself among the shelves of old books and come across the first edition of Neruda's Odes or Alexandre's poems.
