Genuine Irish pub |
56 Trippet Lane Sheffield, South Yorkshire S1 4EL United Kingdom +44 114 249 0888 |
Despite the English name, the Dog and Partridge is a real Irish pub. Irish run and Irish patronized, you can forget your O'Neill's and Scruffy Murphy's - this is the genuine article! The Guinness is sublime. Tetleys and Magnet are on tap as well - but who's going to drink those in this environment? Live music is performed every night: the repertoire is mainly traditional Irish, but it changes, depending on who turns up and the landlord encourages diversity, so if you fancy giving your didgeridoo an airing, you'll be very welcome. Food is limited to chunky, home-made sandwiches and chips, and is served at lunchtimes only. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Intimate wine bar in simple surroundings |
89 Trippet Lane Sheffield, South Yorkshire S1 4EL United Kingdom +44 114 278 0198 |
Trippet's is one of those rare places that's so good you can't believe your luck when you find it! In a side street close to the city centre, this intimate wine bar provides excellent food and wine in a simple setting. There are two rooms, one of which is furnished with wide wooden tables and is used for eating and drinking, while the back room (which is more sparsely furnished) is mainly for music and dancing. The bar has a late license until 1 am and live music - mainly rhythm and blues - plays on Friday and Saturday nights. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Total relaxation by day, clubbers by night |
Carver St Sheffield, South Yorkshire S1 4FS United Kingdom +44 114 241 3400 http://www.walkabout.eu.com/ |
With décor inspired by all things Australian and signs using language straight out of the worst Aussie soaps, Walkabout is a popular venue with students and young locals. Its city-centre location ensures that, on weekend evenings, its roomy dance floor is packed with pre-club revellers. During the week, the promotional drinks offers draw in students. Weekly events include karaoke, sports nights, live music and tribute band nights. By day, the scene is one of total relaxation with large comfy sofas to chill out on and TV screens to entertain. Walkabout is also one of the very few Sheffield city centre pubs to have a large beer garden. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Lively outlet of national chain |
25 Carver Street Sheffield, South Yorkshire S1 4GE United Kingdom +44 114 279 8099 |
This branch of the national wine bar attracts a relatively young crowd (most customers are aged between about 20 and 35), especially at weekends. The décor is modern and includes a spacious drinking area on different levels, with a separate dining area for those who prefer it. Acres of wooden floors and panelling create a rather exclusive feel, but the food is of the burgers and filled jackets variety. Nevertheless, it is very good value, with most dishes costing less than £6. The beers on draught include Stones and Caffreys and an extensive cocktail menu is also available (cocktails are about £3 each). Live bands play here about once a month and DJs appear at least once a week. Review © 2007, Wcities |
