UK Mama was the first African/Caribbean restaurant in Sheffield and it still maintains an excellent reputation for providing the genuine article when it comes to food. Start with opirima (fried plantains) and follow that with beef and okra, or gungo pea stew with minced meat. The restaurant is quite small and booking is recommended. The décor is typically Afro-Caribbean, with bright murals and photos of black icons including Lennox Lewis and Prince Naseem Hamed. Note that service can be a bit slow at the busiest times and that wheelchair access may be difficult due to limited space.
