Amraj Restaurant

Asian Eatery close to Crystal Peaks Cinema Complex
Waterthorpe Crescent
Eckington Way
Sheffield, South Yorkshire S20 - 3FG
United Kingdom
+44 114 247 2255
Amraj, an Asian restaurant located within 20 metres of the Crystal Peaks UCI Cinema Complex, serves authentic Asian cuisine in an authentic environment that is classy, with crisp white table cloths and traditional decorations, but is not over the top. The licensed restaurant offers excellent, freshly-prepared cuisine: starters are from about £1.50 to £3; curries start at about £4 and accompanying sundries are around £3 each. English dishes and children's meals are also available. A popular buffet every Monday evening (eat all you like for about £9 per person) means that booking is recommended on this day. Large parties are catered for and cocktails are available from the bar.

Ashoka

Long-established reputation
307 Ecclesall Road
Sheffield, South Yorkshire S11 8NX
United Kingdom
+44 114 268 3029
The Ashoka, one of the longest established Indian restaurants in Sheffield, continues to enjoy a well-deserved reputation for good quality food at reasonable prices. It is situated in a busy part of town and because it's open late at weekends, it is a convenient place to stop off before or after a night out in the city centre. It attracts couples and small groups of all ages and is almost always busy on Friday and Saturday nights, especially with the younger crowd - so remember to book! Earlier in the evening and during the week, it is generally quieter and so ideal for that romantic date; it is small and quite intimate, although it's worth remembering that tables are placed relatively close together. The restaurant is fully licensed.

Balti Hut

Small informal restaurant with excellent range and quality
655 Ecclesall Road
Sheffield, South Yorkshire S11 8PP
United Kingdom
+44 114 268 7356
This small, informal restaurant, which is decorated with traditional Indian fabrics in bright Rajasthani colours, has seating on two floors and an excellent menu, which offers the whole spectrum of chicken, lamb, prawn and vegetable curries and starters (including kebabs and purées). The side-dishes include four types of Nan bread and rice cooked in eight different ways - including with egg, garlic, and mushrooms. The quality of the food belies the very reasonable prices. Service is very friendly and attentive, and although the premises are unlicensed, guests may bring their own drinks without any corkage charge. The restaurant is situated on the busy Ecclesall Road and attracts local couples and small groups of all ages as well as students.

Balti King

Late-opening restaurant/takeaway
216 Fulwood Road
Sheffield, South Yorkshire S10 3BB
United Kingdom
+44 114 266 6655
Balti King has achieved near-legendary status in Sheffield in the last few years. It is especially popular with students and with groups, largely because it stays open until 3am six days a week, and is unquestionably Broomhill's premier post-pub venue. The atmosphere is relaxed and the décor is plush and comfortable, but what really makes the restaurant stand out is the astonishing variety of the menu. There are around 200 dishes (as well as a decent selection of Indian and European bottled beer) to choose from and there are some delicious options. On top of this, the free delivery service (within a three mile radius) is custom-designed for couch potatoes.

Delhi Junction Anglo-Indian Brasserie

Very popular, with real atmosphere
Abbeydale Road South
The Old Station
Sheffield, South Yorkshire S17 3LB
United Kingdom
+44 114 262 0675
http://delhijunction.co.uk/
The décor is smart but distinctive: there is a lot of black lacquer and gold leaf and the waiters always wear dinner jackets. The Maitre d' is a real character, who welcomes diners personally and will gladly recommend a selection of dishes for you. The restaurant is situated in the old Dore railway station and trains can still be heard rattling past on the line outside, although most customers feel that this adds atmosphere and does not detract from the surroundings or from the experience of enjoying the excellent food.

Indian Chef

Simple with excellent food
176 Crookes
Sheffield, South Yorkshire S10 1UH
United Kingdom
+44 114 266 6052
If you see someone wandering through the Crookes area with a pint of beer in their hand, you can be fairly sure they're heading for Indian Chef. You can take drinks bought from the nearby Ball Inn into the restaurant or bring a bottle of wine or two from home if you prefer (there's no charge for corkage). Once inside the small, open-plan dining area, you can order from an extensive choice of reasonably priced dishes: a starter won't set you back more than £2.50, and a very pleasant chicken tikka kurma costs around £6. The quality of food is excellent but furnishings are simple and as this isn't in the city centre it isn't the kind of restaurant visitors tend to discover for themselves. Locals and students form the core of the evening clientèle, although the daytime opening hours also make this an interesting business lunch option.

Jaflong

Fine Indian cuisine at reasonable prices
182 Northfield Road
Crookes
Sheffield, South Yorkshire S10 1QQ
United Kingdom
+44 114 266 1802
Jaflong, which offers fine Indian food in simple, comfortable surroundings and at very reasonable prices, is popular with students, locals and visitors alike. It is slightly off the beaten track, but if you have to go out of your way to find it, it will be well worth the effort. The décor doesn't distinguish it from many other Indian restaurants; it is the quality of the food which makes it stand out. There are starters and main courses such as sizzling shaslik chicken or king prawn bhuna are about. There are plenty of vegetarian options and the chef will try to accommodate any special requests. Although the restaurant is licensed, you may bring your own wine (but not beer), for which there is no corkage charge.

Vijays

More than just Indian hospitality
17-21 Charter Square
Sheffield S1 4HS
United Kingdom
+44 (0)114 272 8839
http://www.vijays.co.uk/
Strategically located next to the Grosvenor House Hotel, Vijays is situated just opposite Empire Bar. So when hunger strikes, make your way to Charter Square, and this Bollywood inspired Indian restaurant will be at your service. If you happen to come here on Sundays or Tuesdays, you can avail of the "Two for One meal deal". If Indian cuisine is not your thing, you can also opt for European fare. The table buffet is another option out here. The only downside is that they don't provide parking; you might want to use public transport while traveling to this place.
