This traditional, long-established pub is very popular with Sheffield locals, many of whom make a weekly pilgrimage here for Sunday lunch. There are separate entrances for the pub and restaurant, although once inside you can move freely from one area to the other through an interconnecting door. The pub serves Bass ales, and offers a dozen or so bar meals at about £4, such as lasagne and chips or fish and vegetables. The carvery, which is more spacious and feels more recently decorated, offers a starter and English roast dinner for only £6 and is open for lunch and dinner. Be aware that the carvery soon fills up, especially at weekends; if you want to eat here, it is advisable to arrive early.

+44 1709 73 0083 Don't be put off by the name of this restaurant: yes, it is designed for truckers, but that is where the stereotype ends. The restaurant and bar here accommodate any food taste, and are popular with local people. The surroundings are those of an old country house; the food is served carvery style, and the bigger your appetite the better. Food is available from the early morning. Lunch and dinner options include freshly baked pies, roasts, filled Yorkshire puddings, and salads. The vegetable side dishes are a meal in themselves. There is also a great selection of desserts, which change daily.

+44 114 251 8031 This pub and restaurant offers the best value carvery I have ever come across. Just £10 gets you two main meals and two desserts of your choice from the assortment on offer at the carvery table. There is a choice of three roast meats a day, with all the expected vegetable accompaniments and, of course, the good old Yorkshire pudding. There is also the choice of three "chef's specials" each day, which range from homemade pies to casseroles and pasta dishes. There are also vegetarian alternatives and a choice of burgers and chips for those who aren't feeling quite as adventurous.
