Sophisticated Italian restaurant |
Unit 8-10 Cambridge St Sheffield, South Yorkshire S1 4HN United Kingdom +44 114 273 0073 http://www.askcentral.co.uk/ |
ASK Pasta and Pizza serves exactly what the name suggests, but in a rather superior way. This modern city centre restaurant is cool in the extreme, incorporating white walls, pale floors, and black wooden chairs, all of which provide sophisticated and spacious surroundings for a pleasant and relaxing meal. In this restaurant, you're made to feel comfortable whether you're with friends or on your own. Not surprisingly, there's lots of fresh pasta and pizza, but there are also options such as bruschetta with marinated tomatoes, red onions and basil - this is very good value given the quality of both food and surroundings. Simple but sophisticated |
Millennium Galleries Arundel Gate Sheffield, South Yorkshire S1 2PP United Kingdom +44 114 278 2600 |
As the name suggests, Cafe Azure is cool and blue. But what else would you expect? This restaurant/cafe is the main source of refreshment in the prestigious new Millennium Galleries and well-worth a visit in its own right. It's a high, airy venue with plenty of space. Additional tables are provided outside on Arundel Gate. The food is simple but sophisticated, with a good range of sandwiches and some attractive main courses, such as salmon and prawn fish cakes. Service can be slow but the restaurant is licensed and, given its situation, could become one of the most popular places to meet in Sheffield. The atmosphere, generally, is laid back—you will feel comfortable here even if you're on your own. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Smart but relaxing with impressive menu |
631-633 Ecclesall Road Sheffield, South Yorkshire S11 8PT United Kingdom +44 114 267 0565 http://www.caffeuno.co.uk/ |
Caffé Uno is part of a national chain with a deserved reputation for providing good quality food at reasonable prices. This outlet, near Hunter's Bar, provides customers with well presented, high quality Italian food such as spaghetti carbonara or pollo al rosmario (chicken with rosemary). This is a bright, modern restaurant with plenty of space and a mixed clientele. It is an excellent place to meet friends or business colleagues in the certainty that you are not going to be disappointed. It is equally good for coffee and snacks. Staff is cheerful and obliging and the restaurant is very child friendly; in fact, the attitude towards families is quite Italian. A small bar area is available for pre-dinner drinks. Cool, calm and collected, Sheffield's airy Café Rouge offers an ideal respite from the hustle and bustle of Ecclesall Road. Whether you want a three course meal or just a glass of wine, this attractive venue has what you need. Both food and service are impeccable and the prices are reasonable. The two course menu, which is available during the week from noon until 4p, offers particularly good value. The clientèle varies from business people to well-off students and the atmosphere is always laid-back. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Elegant pizza parlour (and jazz club) |
124 Devonshire St Sheffield, South Yorkshire S3 7SF United Kingdom +44 114 275 2755 |
Stainless steel, light polished wood and white walls with blocks of vibrant colour all help to make this large, modern restaurant feel both stylish and relaxed. Tables are discreetly arranged and customers often seem to be discussing business or on a date, although the restaurant is popular with families in the early evenings. Good provision is also made for groups, which tend to be seated on the upper floor where possible. The wide range of freshly-baked Italian style pizzas (priced from about £6)includes pizza veneziana, with raisins and pine kernels, pizza alle nocci with gorgonzola, spinach and walnuts and the pizza fiorentina, a vegetarian alternative which includes spinach and a free range egg. A few pasta dishes are also available and the excellent sweet menu includes chocolate fudge cake and luxury ice-cream bombes. Live jazz is played on the upper floor approximately once a month (see the website for details). Booking is not usually available and this can mean that the bar area is crowded and that service sometimes feels rushed, but the impressive quality of the food invariably compensates for this. Stunning setting; great value for money |
Wharf Road Victoria Quays Sheffield, South Yorkshire S2 5SY United Kingdom +44 114 273 7370 |
Situated on the Victoria Quays, this Tom Cobleigh pub overlooks the canal and is a great place for a relaxing drink or an evening meal. The menu is varied and unique for a pub menu in that it offers not only wholesome, home-cooked food but also healthy eating alternatives. For those who like to both eat out and watch what they eat, the healthy heart menu here is perfect. All the food is freshly prepared, the service is very friendly and personal, and the value is unbelievable. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Great value food; wonderfully friendly environment |
Hellaby Lane, Hellaby, Sheffield, South Yorkshire S66 8HN United Kingdom +44 1709 73 0083 |
Don't be put off by the name of this restaurant: yes, it is designed for truckers, but that is where the stereotype ends. The restaurant and bar here accommodate any food taste, and are popular with local people. The surroundings are those of an old country house; the food is served carvery style, and the bigger your appetite the better. Food is available from the early morning. Lunch and dinner options include freshly baked pies, roasts, filled Yorkshire puddings, and salads. The vegetable side dishes are a meal in themselves. There is also a great selection of desserts, which change daily. Review © 2007, Wcities |
