Asian Eatery close to Crystal Peaks Cinema Complex |
Waterthorpe Crescent Eckington Way Sheffield, South Yorkshire S20 - 3FG United Kingdom +44 114 247 2255 |
Amraj, an Asian restaurant located within 20 metres of the Crystal Peaks UCI Cinema Complex, serves authentic Asian cuisine in an authentic environment that is classy, with crisp white table cloths and traditional decorations, but is not over the top. The licensed restaurant offers excellent, freshly-prepared cuisine: starters are from about £1.50 to £3; curries start at about £4 and accompanying sundries are around £3 each. English dishes and children's meals are also available. A popular buffet every Monday evening (eat all you like for about £9 per person) means that booking is recommended on this day. Large parties are catered for and cocktails are available from the bar. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Top-class English cooking |
289 Abbeydale Road South Sheffield, South Yorkshire S17 3LB United Kingdom +44 114 235 0101 http://www.carriagesrestaurant... |
You don't expect to find one of Sheffield's best restaurants in a building that looks a bit like a prefab beside a main railway line, but Carriages is extremely impressive, so be prepared for a surprise! The food is outstanding and the excellent reputation the restaurant has locally is richly deserved. The style is modern English, with starters, such as baked blue cheese tartlet with caramelised onions followed by unusual combinations like slow-roasted fillet of salmon with bubble and squeak and grilled proscuitto. If you've any room left, the puddings are equally worth exploring. The clientele includes professionals and couples and this is also a favourite venue for business meetings. Review © 2007, Wcities |

All American restaurant |

Located outside the city centre but easily accessible by the Supertram network, Damon's is a very popular and very modern venue for breakfast, lunch or dinner in a light, airy setting. Sit in a booth or at a long table or sip cocktails from the luxurious comfy sofas in the bar area. At Damon's restaurant, the American theme ensures big choice, big portions and a big atmosphere. In Sheffield, Damon's has an unrivalled reputation for its spicy ribs. The menu offers some tasty options and there is an impressive choice of cocktails. This is a particularly good place to host a celebration and anyone celebrating a birthday here eats for free. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Very popular, with real atmosphere |
Abbeydale Road South The Old Station Sheffield, South Yorkshire S17 3LB United Kingdom +44 114 262 0675 http://delhijunction.co.uk/ |
The décor is smart but distinctive: there is a lot of black lacquer and gold leaf and the waiters always wear dinner jackets. The Maitre d' is a real character, who welcomes diners personally and will gladly recommend a selection of dishes for you. The restaurant is situated in the old Dore railway station and trains can still be heard rattling past on the line outside, although most customers feel that this adds atmosphere and does not detract from the surroundings or from the experience of enjoying the excellent food. Food and drink all day |
Hathersage Road Sheffield, South Yorkshire S17 3AB United Kingdom +44 114 235 5121 |
This large pub-restaurant, situated close to some of the surrounding area's most beautiful countryside, has built up a great reputation locally as an excellent place to eat. There is a small bar area but this is mainly used as a place to wait for tables: the separate eating section is larger and more comfortable. Food is served throughout the day and the menu includes Italian pasta dishes as well as chicken, fish and meat. Excellent, very big ice cream desserts are served. Food is reasonably priced and tables can usually be found quite quickly, as the eating area is so large. A children's menu is also available. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Large Italian and American restaurant (bar included) |
Valley Centertainment Broughton Lane Sheffield, South Yorkshire S9 2DX United Kingdom +44 114 256 1138 |
This large Italian and American restaurant, located in a busy entertainment area, also houses a bar. The restaurant is spacious and comfortable, with chunky wooden furniture and open-plan seating areas, which allow you to see your meal being prepared. A good range of Italian food such as pasta and pizza is available, as are American foods and desserts. This is an unusual but enjoyable combination and the menu includes some excellent options. Prices are very reasonable and a separate bar serves alcohol and a full range of other drinks, so that you can enjoy drinks before or after your meal. This restaurant is part of a national chain, but while it isn't the most adventurous or individual place to eat in Sheffield, the high standard of both food and service is consistent and reliable. A cinema, bowling lanes and trams are all situated within walking distance of this restaurant. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Traditional cafe in the city centre |
252 Midland Road Sheffield, South Yorkshire S71 4DN United Kingdom +44 1226 72 2479 |
This is an attractive, very traditional cafe, which serves reasonably-priced, good quality food to eat in or take away. A wide range of sandwiches, jacket potatoes, sausage rolls and pasties, hot meals, tea, coffee and soft drinks is on the menu. There are tables on the pavement outside the cafe, and on a sunny day, this is a most pleasant place to sit, as Surrey Street is located right next to Fargate, Sheffield's main pedestrian shopping area. Top quality Michelin-starred restaurant |
Ridgeway (off B6388) Sheffield, South Yorkshire S12 3XW United Kingdom +44 114 247 5814 http://www.theoldvicarage.co.uk |
The Old Vicarage, a first class restaurant by any standards, currently holds a Michelin Star (the only restaurant with this honor in Sheffield) and two Egon Ronay Stars. The restaurant itself has an elegant, luxurious feel and service is extremely attentive. Expect to find cooking of the highest quality, integrating traditional and modern ingredients and techniques to create unusual and mouthwatering dishes, such as toasted goat's cheese with summer fruit chutney to start. Fine pub in a beautiful location |
Tofts Lane Stannington Sheffield, South Yorkshire S6 5SL United Kingdom +44 114 233 3247 |
It's easy to forget that you're only five minutes from the traffic chaos at Hillsborough when you're enjoying the natural beauty that surrounds the Rivelin Hotel, which faces down an impossibly steep side road onto the A6101 Rivelin Valley Road. Its proximity to the Rivelin Valley Nature Trail makes the small beer garden a popular choice with local families, (accompanied by their children and dogs) on warm afternoons. Inside, it is comfortable and traditional, with slightly old-fashioned fittings, and has a hospitable, local feel. A decent choice of snacks and meals is served every lunchtime and on Friday evenings. Afternoon opening times are sometimes extended if trade is brisk. Review © 2007, Wcities |

American rock and roll theme restaurant. |
54 The Oasis Meadowhall Sheffield, South Yorkshire S9 1EP United Kingdom +44 114 256 8844 |
This American rock and roll restaurant, which is designed to resemble an American diner, with individual booths and novelty life-sized mannequins, serves an assortment of American food and drink at reasonable prices. The atmosphere is lively: a resident DJ will play your musical requests and the rest of the staff also provide the occasional dance. (This isn't the place for a quiet night out.) The restaurant is situated in a busy shopping and eating part of the Meadowhall, and is large and carefully planned; even the shape of seating varies from booth to booth! The food is mostly of the hamburger, chips and ice-cream variety, but the quality is usually high and is reasonably priced. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Derbyshire inn serving great food |
School Lane Hathersage Sheffield, Derbyshire S32 1BZ United Kingdom +44 1433 650 253 |
This excellent pub/restaurant can be reached by taxi or car in about twenty minutes from Sheffield city center. It is situated off the A625 just below Hathersage's St Michael's and All Angels Church. Although you can pop in for just a drink (and the fine Burtonwood beers definitely make this option worthwhile), most people come here to eat. The eating area is comfortable and the menu offers a great deal of variety and includes fresh seafood, traditional roasts and moussaka. The quality of the food here is very much superior to average pub fare. There are also five attractive, and well-decorated bedrooms, which cost around £30 per person. The Scotsman's Pack offers charm, tradition and, when it isn't crowded, a very personable feel, making it a delightful place to visit. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Drink or even sing in welcoming country pub |
569 Redmires Road Sheffield, South Yorkshire S10 4LJ United Kingdom +44 114 230 1935 |
Located right at the western tip of the city on the old Roman road past Lodge Moor, you're unlikely just to chance upon the Sportsman, but it's worth the effort to search it out if you fancy spending time in a friendly, traditional local pub. It's cosy and welcoming in winter and on warm summer evenings the tranquil surroundings make it the perfect place to sit outside, enjoy a drink and watch the sun set over the stunning Rivelin valley. A range of real ales includes Timothy Taylor Landlord. Simple but appetising homemade dishes such as quiche or chilli are served from midday until 2.30pm, Monday to Saturday. Most of the regulars (who vary considerably in age) are very friendly and if you pop in on a Thursday evening at any time of the year, you can even sing along to the piano with them! The pub can be reached from Sheffield city centre within a 10-15 minute taxi ride. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Great value food; wonderfully friendly environment |
Hellaby Lane, Hellaby, Sheffield, South Yorkshire S66 8HN United Kingdom +44 1709 73 0083 |
Don't be put off by the name of this restaurant: yes, it is designed for truckers, but that is where the stereotype ends. The restaurant and bar here accommodate any food taste, and are popular with local people. The surroundings are those of an old country house; the food is served carvery style, and the bigger your appetite the better. Food is available from the early morning. Lunch and dinner options include freshly baked pies, roasts, filled Yorkshire puddings, and salads. The vegetable side dishes are a meal in themselves. There is also a great selection of desserts, which change daily. Review © 2007, Wcities |
