There is so much more to the Quays than just a swimming pool. It contains a fun pool, a 25-metre main pool with eight lanes, a diving pool and a sixty station fitness suite. It is advertised as "swimming, diving, health and fitness all in one place", so if your hotel or health club does not have a pool, dive in here. With a crèche, studio and a cafe on the premises, the Quays is an excellent all-round leisure venue. Special packages for regular users are available and family season tickets and corporate membership are also on offer. The hours below are for the main pool. The Rapids is advertised as the complete swimming adventure and it certainly has many water features, such as bubble seats, water jets and storm showers. There is also a 75 metre flume ride, which twists around high above the pools, for those brave enough to try. There is a fitness pool for people who just want to swim and a small learner pool. This large leisure centre in Winchester offers fun and fitness for all the family. Its main attraction is an exciting 65 metre twister flume ride, and it also has a six lane 25 metre swimming pool, a 12 metre learner pool and an eight court hall for badminton, basketball and five-a-side football. Other attractions include squash courts, outdoor tennis courts, an artificial training pitch for football or hockey, dance and health studios, a function room and a cafe bar. Largest single yacht race in the world |

The Round the Island Race is the largest single yacht race in the world. Run by the Island Sailing Club, it is a straight race around the Isle of Wight, starting and finishing at Cowes. About 1500 boats compete each year and any yacht of any shape or size can take part, as a handicapping system is used to determine the winner. Everyone that finishes receives a tankard and the victor collects the prestigious Roman Golden Bowl. Good vantage points to observe the action include The Needles, St. Catherine's Point and Ryde Pier, all on the Isle of Wight, and Hurst Point on the mainland. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Cowes Week is the world's largest sailing regatta. It features more than 900 boats, in over forty classes, with crews coming from all over the world. Each class of boat has its own championship, with races once a day for eight days. The races can be watched by the Royal Yacht Squadron promenade. In addition to the racing, there is an extensive social diary of events, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display on the Friday night starting at 9p. Admission is free.
