The Chichester Real Ale and Jazz Festival was started in 1980 by a group of volunteers, mainly drawn from Chichester Priory Park Cricket and Hockey Club, who wanted to raise money for local charities whilst enjoying great bands and the UK's best beers. Today, over 7000 people attend the festival, held every year in Chichester's beautiful Priory Park, over four evenings in July. As well as excellent live music, beers on offer at the festival have included Copperwinkle, Summer Lightning and Priory Quaffing Ale. The evenings often sell out, so tickets should be bought in advance. All profits are distributed through a variety of local charities. This year's event will be held on the 11th-14th July. There will be a performance by Robert Cray, a blues night and a tribute act night featuring Utter Madness and The Strolling Bones. Tickets cost between £16 and £25 depending on the night.
