The annual Scottish Games & Cultural Festival generates a lot of hype and excitement as kids and adults participate in games over a span of two days. Highland dancing, pipebands, storytelling, sheepdog demonstrations, animal displays, and games go on throughout. Food stalls and Scottish merchandise also dot the venue, and the whole family can have fun. If you're thinking of how cute Fido will look in a kilt, however, forget about it—strictly no pets allowed! The annual festival attracts more than just the church folk each year. Amidst traditional costumes and dances, the festivities go on for three days. Kota Ringata, Moussaka, Tiropites, Pastitsio, and other Greek delicacies are a must-try. Learn a Greek sound byte or two as young children sing melodiously. And at the end of it all, say Opaa. The annual wine festival in St. Louis is a grand affair. Held at Forest Park, pretty white tents sport more than 150 different wines for both the connoisseur and lay man. Seminars, wine tastings, cooking demonstrations, and jazz and blues music keep visitors entertained and busy. Retailers and specialty food shops also set up stalls. Children under 21 enter free when accompanied by parents. Review © 2007, Wcities |
