All Swedish children's literature is available here. Altogether, the library contains around 55,000 books. An exhibit about children's and youth literature, and another about the tradition of children's books, have their own special spot in the library. Closes for the summer, opening again on 31 July. Out of a fairytale |

Humlegården is like something out of a fairytale. Right by Karlavägen is a fenced playground called Humlan, which has an extremely generous staff who don't mind watching the children for a while. In the small cottage, hot coffee is served. They also have three-wheelers, scooters and pedal cars to lend to the children. On Tuesdays, hotdog barbeques are arranged at 11a and 2p. The King's Garden is located in central Stockholm. This park serves dual purposes, as an outdoor concert venue in summer, and an ice-skating rink in winter. When the first rays of the sun appear, it is time for Stockholmers to wake up and explore the city again after a long and dark winter. A couple of days in May offer the opportunity to do this through a boule competition arranged in Kungsträdgården. It is played in teams of three people. This contest is welcome both to curious citizens and the sporting elite. The 150 first players to register win a surprise goody bag. You can enter the contest on the spot but then the fee is higher. The Cultural Centre's "Room for Children" consists of 700 square metres of fun for children. There is a library, an image workshop and a science corner, as well as music, drama, and film activities. Rum för barn is also a source of inspiration for adults interested in children's culture. Teachers and parents participate in the activities. Seminars for adults are held on a regular basis. Tegnérlunden is located close to the end of Drottninggatan. August Strindberg writer's den and home, Blå Tornet, is also nearby. This is an oasis of calm in the middle of busy city life for those in need of a break. Admire the pavilion on the hill and the statues of August Strindberg and Astrid Lindgren, and make sure to try sitting on one of the benches: this is, after all, where Bo Vilhelm Olsson sat before he disappeared to the Land Far Away and became Mio my Mio.
