Birch forest and lakes |
Nacka Stockholm 131 33 +46 (0)8 716 0702 http://www.hellasgarden.se/ Storstugan@hellasgarden.se |
Hellasgården is a park not far from central Stockholm. Here, you can choose from different paths that run along the marsh and the lakes, or through a leafy birch forest and over open fields. There is a playground with sand boxes and climbing frames. You can also play beach volleyball and boules here. Nearby, a lawn leads to a safe artificial beach. Review © 2007, Wcities |
Thousands of toys of all descriptions |
Tegelviksgatan 22 Stockholm 11641 +46 (0)8 641 6100 http://www.leksaksmuseet.se/ |
At the Toy Museum, you will find thousands of toys. Delve into Swedish lore, with works of Carl Larsson and Elsa Beskow. Among the dolls, the oldest little lady is from the end of the 1800s, and there is an antique model railway winding through the rooms. Every day at 11p and 1p, there is a magician's performance. The Museum of Mechanical Music is also located here. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Långholmen Stockholm 102 72 +46 (0)8 720 8500 http://www.langholmen.com info@langholmen.com |
Långholmen (a small island just outside Södermalm) is perfect for swimming. The island is full of cliffs, jetties, inlets and small bays. The beach has a beautiful, shallow jetty with a sandy beach and a lawn. Families with children get together to swim and have picnics on the grass. There are trees nearby, great for climbing and providing lots of different hiding places. Just getting there is like being in an Astrid Lindgren fairytale, passing the quaint houses and beautiful gardens. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The Citizen's House |
Medborgarplatsen Stockholm 118 +46 (0)8 5082 8508 (Tourist Centre) |
In summer, this Citizen House square is the ideal place to sit down with a cup of coffee and read a good book. There is a library, a public swimming pool, cinemas and the Söderhallarna shopping center located close to this place. Across the street is Björns Trädgård, a little park with an outdoor café and playground. During winter, the square is transformed into an ice-skating rink...so bring your skates along and go skating in the heart of Södermalm. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Swing away |
Rosenlundsparken Stockholm 118 27 +46 (0)8 5082 8508 (Turistbyra) |
The playground behind the tall Tax Authorities building on Södemalm is mostly known for its variety of swings. The playground is manned, and the fenced part is for the youngest ones. There is, however, a lot of space for picnics and the lawn is big enough for playing baseball or a friendly game of football. Review © 2007, Wcities |
Heritage for children |
Katarina bangata Stockholm +46 (0)8 5082 8508 (Turistbyra) |
This playground is something like a children's heritage area, with fantastic views over the Hammarby area. And not only that! Everything a child could ever imagine can be found here: swings, climbing frames and an old tractor to climb and play on. Pigs, hens and sheep live here during the summertime. In the winter, it is fun to ride a sled or ski down the slopes. To get here, take the metro to Slussen, then bus number 46. Review © 2007, Wcities |
