A private palace with turn-of-the-century art and antiques |
Hamngatan 4 Stockholm, Svealand 111 47 +46 8 5195 5592 http://www.lsh.se/hallwyl |
The Hallwylska Museum is a private palace. It has an extensive collection of fine art and antiques that were donated to the Swedish State in 1920. Architect Isak Gustaf Clason built the house between 1893-1898. And its interior is famous for its Baroque and Rococo styles. This museum provides a unique insight into the lifestyles of an upper middle class family of the early 1900s. There are only guided tours, so call beforehand for information. Review © 2009, Wcities |
