This beautiful church dates back to the Rococo period and is located in the east wing of the royal palace. Its white marble altar piece, which extends up to the ceiling adds to the grandeur. Pierre-Hubert Archevêque began work on the altar, and it was completed by Johan Tobias Sergel, a well-known Stockholm personality. There is a room, decorated in white and gold that contains the best paintings of Guillaume-Thomas-Raphael Taraval and his pupil Johan Pasch. The nineteeth century statues of the Apostles, by the Norwegian sculptor Hans Michelsen, are also very impressive. Morning services are held every Sunday at 11a. Review © 2009, Wcities |
