Brännvin Resturang & Akvavitbar

Brännvin is a Swedish liquor, also known as aquavit, and this restaurant by the same name, offers some 40 varieties of it. However, it is not just the drink that draws the crowds; the food is equally tempting with lovely Swedish appetizers, main courses and desserts. Brännvin also offers seasonal menus plus the "County Menu", which helps you select your food according to your preference. And if all this does not attract you, the waterfront view of the Strömmen Canal will change your mind for sure.

Experience true gourmet cuisine at this charming little restaurant in the city. The 32-seat eatery is especially suitable for small celebration meals. German Chef Norbert Lang conjures up exciting preparations by adding a French twist to fresh Swedish ingredients. Recommendations include the scrumptious Lobster Bisque, which comes along with a mélange of other, daintily-dressed seafood and crunchy veggies on a big platter. Those who cannot do without their dose of meat can sample some rare presentations of reindeer and moose, or game birds. A big mug of Joseph Drouhin Chablis '93 should wash things down nicely. Desserts are worth digging into— the chocolate cake and lemon mousse are most popular— but the restaurant's healthy fruit sorbets are preferred by regulars. Watch that wallet though; it has an uncanny way of getting depleted here!

The restaurant is situated on one of the most populated residential islands in the country. Sitting at a table within this charming, historic building, patrons are treated to some awesome views of the waterfront. Its delicious concoctions of contemporary Swiss food have earned it a star in the Guide Michelin, in addition to glowing recommendations from regular diners and first-timers alike. Dig into fresh, leafy salads, slurp your way through hot soups and savor the delicious fish, chicken, lamb and pork entrees, before moving on to a calorie-laden dessert. Ice-creams, chunky pieces of chocolate, sodas, lager and sorbets are on offer too, and the seasonal list gets pepped up in summer, with a special tasting menu coming to the fore. Don't forget to grab a few lumps of cheese on your way out.

Zum Franziskaner

Home-brewed Weissbier

Here you find Bratwurst and rumpsteak amongst Swedish dishes like herring and hash of fried diced meat with onions and potatoes. The restaurant is extraordinarily beautiful, designed in Jugend style. Pleasant German music is piped through the speakers, and friendly waitresses take good care of the guests. Amongst the lovely beers, Franziskaner, the restaurant's own Weissbier, is recommended.
