The place shares its kitchen with the Operabaren and the prices are quite affordable. House specialties are Beef Rydberg (thin-sliced tenderloin) and seasonal reindeer and elk delicacies. The bar is shaped like a horseshoe and is quite popular with the patrons. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Birgerjarlsgatan 5 Stockholm 111 45 Sweden +46 (0)8 679 7210 |
A couple of years ago, Birger Bar was redone in a metallic theme and was appropriately re-named Silver Bar. Recently, the bar returned to its former name, but retained the new décor. The place serves mainly Italian cuisine but also a few French dishes. It is popular among the typical young and rich Stureplan crowd. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Big size pizzas, beer and wine |
Vikingagatan 16 Stockholm, Svealand 113 42 Sweden +46 8 32 1790 |
Birkastans Pizzeria has been attracting customers for the past 13 years. It is the sheer size of the pizza that brings people flocking to this place. It is crowded on Saturdays and Sundays. Takeaway orders are encouraged, and the unusual feature of this Swedish pizzeria, is that it serves beer and wine too. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The food here is well prepared and everything from the menu to the interior décor is genuinely Italian. This is a superb place to enjoy a three-course meal, and the setting is romantic. The service by the Italian waitstaff is very good and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. A lot of people come by, so don't forget to book a table. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Elegant Italian restaurant |
Grevgatan 9 Stockholm 114 53 Sweden +46 (0)8 661 2628 |
Il Conte is the perfect place for a quiet dinner. It has a soothing and a relaxed ambience, and the food is quite good. It is a bit on the expensive side and is frequented by romantic couples and an affluent clientele. There is nothing better than the home-made pasta served with different delicious sauces. Chic European Restaurant |
2 Kungstensg Stockholm 114 25 Sweden +46 8 696 23 23 esperanto@sollevi.se |
Driving its inspiration from the chic restaurants in New York this place although expensive tends to attract a lot of visitors probably because of its serene atmosphere and lovely decor. But what makes it even more interesting is the food a nice blend of European foods with an interesting menu. The kitchen is an open one so you can see how your foods been prepared. Try the seven course meal with champagne it definitely gets my vote. For a memorable evening of fine dining head to Esperanto. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Italian delights |
Alströmergatan 45 Stockholm 112 47 Sweden +46 (0)8 650 6310 |
La Famiglia is among the top Italian restaurants in Stockholm, and still going strong. A very important guest at the restaurant was the famous singer Frank Sinatra. The menu has true classics, such as oven-baked mussels, good calf's liver, and, of course, a decent range of pasta dishes. It's the best place to enjoy an evening with your family. Popular Italian joint |
Frejgatan 79 Stockholm 113 26 Sweden +46 (0)8 32 0525 |
Farbror Frej, which recently experienced a change in ownership, is a surprisingly good Italian restaurant. Though one may not think to look to the Swedes for fine Italian cooking and dining, Farbror Frej goes beyond all expectations. The head chef has had an experience of 30 years and this has helped her create dishes that can warm you during the coldest Swedish winter. Review © 2007, Wcities |

This Italian neighborhood restaurant is situated on a narrow back street of Vasastan. If you can't find it in the first go, try a bit more because it is worth visiting. It has recently expanded, but has fortunately not lost its intimate ambience. It offers a nice range of pastas as well as pizzas, which are served with delicious toppings. A glass of wine with your meal, adds the perfect Italian touch. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The ultimate Italian experience |
Blekingegatan 32 Stockholm 118 56 Sweden +46 (0)8 644 1816 http://ww.hosteriatresanti.lun... |
Like in the movies, Italian food is portrayed as being full of cheese, garlic, tomatoes and is always totally delicious. This rustic Italian joint is an experience by itself. The staff is friendly, and Italian. Don't be surprised if your waiter breaks into an aria whilst serving you. This place comes closest to the authentic Italian dining, outside of Italy. Ensure that you have a reservation at least a week in advance. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Fusion food |
Rådmansgatan 23 Stockholm 114 25 Sweden +46 8 21 2206 / +46 8767 0520 http://www.jarlafisk.se/ mat@jarlafest.se |
Fish, meats and a variety of ingredients are available at this deli for those who'd like a quick bite as well as take something back home for the folks. The ready-to-eat food includes Asian rice, Italian pastas and a local range of non-vegetarian dishes. Make sure you take along a friend who has assimilated at least a smattering of Swedish, so as not to be lost amid the tongue-twisting names on the menu. However difficult the communication might get, a meal here is worth the effort. Dig into some exotic cuisine, involving fish fresh from the sea, or sink your teeth into some marinated red meats. More beef than chicken is found here, as it provides good insulation against the biting cold. Review © 2007, Wcities |

With many of the specialities featuring outstanding Swedish cuisine, Leijontornet's menu is also inspiried by influences from Asia, North America, and other parts of Europe. The food is chosen with care and the presentation is impeccable explaining the high prices. Drop in for a glass of wine and some delicious vegetarian dishes, should meat not suit your fancy. Although, the local favorite Swedish Duck Liver is highly recommended. You will also find hints of seafood with a unique Scandinavian twist. Situated in the heart of Stockholm, this makes an excellent choice for those looking for an exquisite meal. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Traditional Italian in Sweden |
Norrmalmstorg 4 Stockholm 111 46 Sweden +46 (0)8 440 3880 |
From legendary Stockholm restaurant and club owner Sergio Montanari comes Martini, a bar and restaurant located a stone's throw from any city dweller in need of a drink or a full belly. The restuarant has very good traditional pasta, the best of which being the 'frutti de mare'. The environment is very pleasant, facing Norrmalmstorg--great for people watching. Designer restaurant with unusual rooms |
Fridhemsgatan 17 Stockholm 112 40 Sweden +46 (0)8 653 2790 http://www.niva22.se/ info@niva22.se |
It is hard to imagine that these super-designed rooms used to house public lavatories. As the name indicates, the restaurant is located underground, but it is easy to find from the Fridhemsplan subway entrance just opposite. The food has distinctive Italian influences but there is always room for other ideas and sources of inspiration. As a result, the menu changes frequently. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Pizza can be gourmet food! |
Odengatan 79-81 Stockholm 111 30 Sweden +46 (0)8 32 0122 http://primociaociao.com/ |
If you doubt that pizza could be gourmet food, you have not visited the two Ciao—Ciao restaurants. Primo Ciao—Ciao is probably the more exclusive one of the two, but the pizzas are nonetheless the best reason to come here. If you prefer to eat something else, the menu offers a variety of modern Italian dishes. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Italian delight |
Nybrogatan 17 Stockholm 114 39 Sweden +46 (0)8 662 3132 |
The Italian Gastronomic Association has given Capri the right to call itself a Ristorante Italiano. This is a very romantic restaurant, similar to the one in Disney's version of The Lady and the Tramp. The restaurant has grotto-like walls and the food is served on classic red and white tablecloths. It's not trendy at all, just comfy. You'll find homemade pastas in delicious combinations, pizzas, meat and fish courses. Capri is perfect for those with a low budget, but high culinary demands.
