Restaurant at the opera |
Jakobs Torg 12, Operahuset Kungsträdgården Stockholm Sweden +46 (0)8 676 5809 |
This popular restaurant is the neighbor of the illustrious Operakällaren, situated near Jacob's Church. The performers at the Royal Opera throng here to savor the salmon delicacies. The place shares its kitchen with the Operabaren and the prices are quite affordable. House specialties are Beef Rydberg (thin-sliced tenderloin) and seasonal reindeer and elk delicacies. The bar is shaped like a horseshoe and is quite popular with the patrons. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The credit for the new decor at Berns goes to the world-famous interior designer and restaurateur Terence Conran. Berns is a large restaurant with rooms to accomodate 350 people. The bar and the lavish chandeliers give the interior a touch of class and elegance. You can enjoy mouth-watering lobsters and seafood, and a glass of champagne will complete the exotic experience. This classic restaurant in Östermalm welcomes a lot of celebrities, who come here for the Pot-au-feu and Crème Brûlée. You'll also spot chef Erik Lallerstedt walking round the tables and chatting with the guests. He has reason to be proud of his restaurant - the food is excellent, whether it consists of simple home cooking, such as Herring, or something a lot more exclusive. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Here, the exotic meets the trendy. At Halv Grek Plus Turk, which literally means "a half-Greek and a Turk", the outcome is an exciting mix of the modern and the traditional. The eastern part of the Mediterranean is noticeable in both the decor and the food. Reservation is required. Check out the beautifully designed bar. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Smart dining hall |
Linnégatan 18 Stockholm 114 47 Sweden +46 (0)8 442 8900 http://www.hotellet.info/ nfo@hotellet.info |
This place at Linnégatan 18 is a new and welcome addition to the Stockholm nightlife. The enormous and open premises are smartly and sparsely decorated. One floor is a huge dining hall with room for over 200 guests. On the ground floor is a large bar and the mezzanine level is home to a comfy lounge. The décor is pop-artsy and slightly 1960s-style. The noteworthy seafood bar is run in co-operation with Melanders Fisk in Östermalmshallen. You can have a special seafood platter consisting of half an American lobster, half a boiled crab, Swedish oysters, Irish oysters and fresh prawns are also available. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Casual & Gourmet |
Sodra Blasieholmshamnen 6 (Grand Hotel Stockholm) Stockholm Sweden +46 8 679 35 84 http://www.mdghs.com info@mdghs.com |
In the long and always growing list of hotel restaurants designed by celebrity chefs, Matbaren ("The Food Bar") is the first to fuse gourmet Swedish cuisine with casual appeal. The restaurant is the brainchild of chef Mathias Dahlgren, who sought to contrast his more formal restaurant, Matsalen, with a place where people could feel at ease while being served the freshest and most inventive food available. Each day the kitchen produces a new menu of Swedish classics and international favorites, as well a different wine list to complement any dish. Masbaren is the perfect place to have an inventive meal with a group of close friends. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Elegant seafood restaurant with club |
Dalagatan 46 Stockholm 113 24 Sweden +46 (0)8 34 6410 http://www.musslan.se/ musslan@chello.se |
Musslan is always crowded and very trendy. You can come here to enjoy delicious fish, or seafood, or just to hang out in the bar. Almost every night, there is a guest DJ; themes vary from opera to acid jazz. The room is small and there's not much space to manouevre. If you suffer from clausterphobia, this is not for you. The décor is smart and stylish. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Operakällaren |
Karl XII:s torg Operahuset Stockholm 111 86 Sweden +46 (0)8 676 58 01 http://www.operakallaren.se info@operakallaren.se |
One of the restaurants in Stockholm privileged with a star in the Guide Michelin, Operakällaren is also a classic among gourmet restaurants. Chef Stefano Catenacci has a state-of-the-art kitchen at his disposal, along with astoundingly competent staff. Modern, traditional dishes dominate the menu. The main room is open daily from 6p-10p, whereas the Operabar and Bakfickan (slightly less ambitious but highly recommended menus) keep more generous hours listed below. Reservations are recommended for the main room, but not for the other two. Review © 2007, Wcities |

J is the closest thing you will get to a sailors' bar onshore. Ride a bike or take the ferry from the city to J. It has a boat's sail stretched across the ceiling. The menu features a lot of fish, naturally, but also light summer meals like fresh salads and soup. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Named after Albert Engström's magazine |
Drottninggatan 79 Stockholm 111 60 Sweden +46 (0)8 24 4402 http://strix.nu/ |
The name "Strix" comes from Albert Engström's magazine, for which August Strindberg once used to write. The theme of the magazine was often dining and drinking, especially in the famous drawings by Oscar Andersson - copies of which are to be found on the walls and in the menus at this restaurant. Tasty miso soup, sushi and sashimi |
Brahegatan 3 Stockholm 114 37 Sweden +46 (0)8 663 4546 |
If you take a walk in Humlegården during lunchtime on a warm summer's day you will come across someone sitting on a park bench, enjoying a Japanese lunch. They will most probably have bought it one block away, at Sushihuset. During colder weather or in the evenings, it might be more pleasant to sit in the small but tastefully decorated restaurant instead of ordering it and eating in the park. While sipping at your miso soup you can study the chef as he skilfully slices and arranges the sashimi and sushi. The ingredients are high-quality and the food is delicious. Come here and you are likely to gain a new appreciation for Japanese cuisine. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Classic dishes are presented with a modern touch. The décor is old-fashioned in brick and wood. The bar serves lunch and lighter meals in the evenings. Review © 2007, Wcities |
