This sleekly designed facility, located on the fringe of the Rocks, provides a choice of activities for local residents, city workers and tourists. Opened in 1998 at a cost of AUD3.4 million, it replaced the original, crumbling 1937 building. State-of-the-art facilities include basketball courts inside and out, table tennis, volleyball, netball, cafe, playground, a soft fall area for kids and a barbeque area. There is also a fully equipped health club with gym and aerobics. The Centre also runs community education programmes, sport competitions and children's holiday and day care.
