Party Into The Daylight |
354 Bourke Street Darlinghurst Sydney, NSW 2010 Australia +61 (0)2 9331 1045 |
This place hardly ever seems to close. Its specialty is its Monday Morning recovery party. The club inside is called the Discovery, and on some mornings the patronage and High NRG house music spill out into the streets. Earlier on in the night drinks are cheaper but overall they are priced quite well. The clientele are hardened clubbers who are not afraid of a little sweat—if it gets too sticky they just strip off and reveal their muscular, tattooed chests. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Business dining with flair. |
52 King St. Level One Sydney, NSW 2000 Australia +61 02 8297 7010 http://www.merivale.com/hotelc... |
The business crowd has come to expect exceptional quality, ambiance, and service all within the hour, and Bistro CBD always delivers. The setting is classy: the ionic columns and wide arched windows give the room and open, airy feel. Award-winning head chef James Privett turns out dishes that are inventive yet classic. Great for a business lunch or a night on the town. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Pick of the North Sydney bunch |
107-109 Mount Street North Sydney Sydney, NSW 2060 Australia +61 2 9954 4919 |
Blueberries is a microcosm of North Sydney itself--office, eighties-style architecture, lots of suits, conservative at lunch time, wild after those après-work cocktails have kicked in, and the back dance floor area transforms into a strobe-lit nightclub. This is one of the latest closers in the area. Tables surround the centre bar and big, comfy booths line the walls--the perfect spot for a power-lunch or sharing a cosy cocktail. Food choices include New York-style Wedges and Sour Cream, Nachos, Pastas and Seared Sirloins. Daiquiris are a perennial favourite. Blueberries also does a decent Bloody Mary. This place rocks all day and all night |
26 Darlinghurst Road Kings Cross Sydney, NSW 2011 Australia +61 2 9358 1144 http://www.thebourbon.com.au/ info@thebourbon.com.au |
This place, known as a haven for homesick Americans and a sailors hangout, is always open and always entertaining. From 5pm until 9pm, a pianist plays Golden Oldies tunes then until 3am on a weekday and weekends until 7am a rhythm and blues pop band or Top 40 music plays. Within the complex there are two discos, one playing techno and house the other playing retro and techno. Comfortable and traditional, this place is filled with a combination of locals and tourists. The Bourbon & Beefsteak serves an a la carte menu of seafood, Steak, Tex-Mex and the like. Breakfast is also served 24 hours. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Popular hang out for the glamourous |
169 Oxford Street Darlinghurst Sydney, NSW 2010 Australia +61 (0)2 9331 7729 byblosnightclub@hotmail.com |
Undoubtedly the most popular club for glamor pusses looking to dance to hands-in-the-air house along the Oxford Street strip. Definitely a glamor club and not scene-free by any means, the decor is flashy with a clientèle to match. On a Saturday night the queue to get in the door travels down Oxford Street—be prepared for a long wait to get in. During the week Byblos offers food, tea and coffee and doubles up as a function area. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Disco freaks, drags and weirdos |
33 Oxford Street, Level 1 Darlinghurst, UN Nightclub Sydney, NSW 2011 Australia +61 2 9267 7036 http://www.dcmsydney.com/ |
Arguably Sydney's most popular venue with a massive capacity of 1500. UN has been around since the early 90s and still packs them in. Generally it attracts a mixed crowd of gay and straight, loads of silicon, muscles and tight clothes. Gay night is on Thursdays when Drag Shows come on around 2a. It does not have the cheapest cover charges in Sydney and the drinks are priced to match. It is a club full of committed clubbers dancing to fast pumping house music. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Part of the Dendy cinema complex |
19 Martin Place Sydney, NSW 2000 Australia +61 (0)2 9211 1243 |
Bar, food, cocktails and club, what more could one ask? After watching a movie at the cinema, come in for some very good cafe food. Often used as a venue for functions or club type events, its resident club night suitably named "Bendy at the Dendy", plays deep and dirty house tunes. Arrive early for half price cocktails and get ready for a cranker! Whatever the reason, the Dendy Bar is unlikely to disappoint. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Loads of Variety |
34 Oxford Street Darlinghurst Sydney, NSW 2010 Australia +61 (0)2 9331 1936 |
Once a more or less gay only venue the Exchange now plays host to a mixture of gay and straight party goers. The Lizard Lounge a bar and club in one, plays a range of tunes to a sexy crowd. The Phoenix Bar is largely for hard clubbers playing tunes ranging from underground, dance and funk. All in all it provides inexpensive drinks and is open until the wee hours of the morning. Restaurant, bar and nightclub |
Oxford St and South Dowling St (Paddington) Sydney, NSW 2021 Australia +61 (0)2 9331 7108 |
A restaurant, a bar, and now a nightclub, the high ceilings and classy interior provide a great space for a young Paddington things to sip their cocktails. This old building is anything but a dingy club, and more a refined place to have dinner. The menu is modern Australian and the kitchen delivers a great pan-fried wild barramundi, the grilled T-bone with field mushrooms, and an irresistible dessert list. It can be as fun or romantic as you like. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Still open when everything else is closed |
40-42 Flinders Street Darlinghurst Sydney, NSW 2010 Australia +61 (0)2 9331 4256 bushelle@senalink.com.au |
To those really in the know, this is the Taxi Club. Previously known as one of Sydney's seediest clubs, this place has cleaned its act up with some major renovations. Punters are a mixed bag of straight, gay, weird and freaky. Drinks are well priced, it is always open and you can get down to loads of commercial dance tunes. Play a video game, drink or dance; you are bound to have good time. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The Place To Be Seen |
Wheat Road Cockle Bay Wharf, Darling Park Sydney, NSW 2000 Australia +61 2 9266 0600 http://www.homesydney.com/ reception@homesydney.com |
The first Home club was opened in Scotland and there are also branches in New York and London. With such an international reputation the facilities are second to none and are some of the best to be found in Sydney. With three levels, it can accommodate a maximum capacity of 2200 in its trendy surrounds. From the balcony area you can check out the view of Cockle Bay. Immensely popular be prepared to queue along with the other smartly dressed Sydneysiders and tourists. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Late Night Drag Shows |
35 Erskineville Road Erskineville Sydney, NSW 2043 Australia +61 (0)2 9519 9899 |
If you are not cruising the Oxford Street/Darlinghurst strip, this would be your next best bet. With both gay and straight patrons, the hotel boasts three very different bars. The Cabaret Bar plays host to the Drag Shows, the front bar is a mixed public bar, the Cellar Bar is the night club and the Priscilla Bar is a very chilled cocktail bar—it was also the inspiration for some of the scenes in Australian film "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert." Four floors of drinking |
176 George St (Circular Quay) Sydney, NSW 2000 Australia +61 (0)2 9247 2727 http://www.jacksonsongeorge.co... admin@jacksonsongeorge.com.au |
Drinking, drinking, drinking and perhaps a boogie to commercial dance hits or music from the 80s and 90s in the Bar Luna, this popular venue is spread over four floors. Attracting all sorts and being somewhat more civilized during the day, this is predominantly a watering hole where you can sample any number of their 110 different types of local and imported beer. And even better, Happy Hour is from 5pm-7pm. Smart and stylish, pull on your fancy togs and join the throng. There is a restaurant downstairs. Review © 2007, Wcities |

1920's decor |
383-387 Bourke Street, Taylor Square Darlinghurst Sydney, NSW 2010 Australia +61 2 9331 3100 http://www.kinselas.com.au |
The bar area here was restored to its original 1925 grandeur with no expense spared. One of Sydney's hottest night spots the clientele is mixed but mostly locals. Drink, dance have a game of pool or chance the pokies, the decision is yours. Or simply enjoy the regular live bands and DJs. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The Mezz Bar is several genres all rolled into one. It is a bar, an Italian restaurant called Amalias@Mezz and once the dining is done, it turns into a dance party with a revolving selection of late-night DJs. Popular with city workers, it is cosy and comfortable and quite large, with bar and restaurant seating that can be moved back when the dance floor is pumping. Pasta dishes include popular favourites such as Lasagne and Spaghetti Napoli and tempting alternatives such as Fettuccine with Tiger Prawns. Review © 2007, Wcities |

A Sydney secret...but not for long |
53 Martin Place Sydney, NSW 2000 Australia +61 2 9233 5388 eat@pobox.com.au |
This great space is the perfect haven for movers and groovers looking for something a little different. It is more sophisticated than a pub, but not quite as sophisticated as some of the other inner-city venues. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights relax with a drink and listen to urban funk played by an ever-changing line-up of the latest DJs. There is an extensive array of cocktails available, as well as wine by the glass and beer on tap. Review © 2007, Wcities |

An intrinsic part of Oxford Street |
11a Oxford Street Paddington Sydney, NSW 2021 Australia +61 (0)2 9360 6759 |
Generally a straight club, its recent facelift has changed the top bar area into a modern bar area, whilst the downstairs area remains a clubbers sweat box. On a Wednesday evening its Warm Up, a free night where twisted break beats and special acts appearing weekly perform (for serious music lovers). On weekends and in the upstairs bar a mixture of disco, funk, rhythm and blues and hip hop play to a polished but not overtly poses crowd. Review © 2007, Wcities |

In the middle of Oxford Street |
163 Oxford Street Darlinghurst Sydney, NSW 2010 Australia +61 (0)2 9360 5666 http://www.nv.com.au nvclub@ozemail.com.au |
Loads of leather pants, muscles, mini skirts and high heels hang here. This crowd is not short of plastic and the décor reflects the glamour and sophistication of the patrons dancing to the mainly house music. Done up to the nines there are three bars: the Chill Out Bar, VIP Bar and Main Bar just off the dance floor. Still it is not a huge space so you need to get there early or be prepared to queue. Membership for the club is available. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The who's who of Oxford Street come here |
34-44 Oxford St Darlinghurst Sydney, NSW 2010 Australia +61 (0)2 9360 1375 http://www.qbar.com.au syd@qbar.com.au |
Don't show up in your Sunday cleaning clothes if you expect to slide by the entrance and enter the lift that takes you to this bar heaven. Only the coolest hipsters make it into this place, but that should include you if you simply look the part. With a pool hall, club and bar, this Oxford Street institution is one of the harder places to get into along this strip. With three bars—the first, an oval shape bar, swoops its way down to form the second bar in the pool hall. The third bar is members only and you need a photo ID Q card to get in and dance, mingle or pose. The décor is modern with high ceilings and the clientele are hip and trendy. Review © 2007, Wcities |

16-18 Oxford Square Darlinghurst Sydney, NSW 2010 Australia +61 (0)2 9262 4858 rogues1@bigpond.com |
Not a place to go if your ego is feeling a little battered this is a place of glamour and posing. Rogues has been a part of the Oxford Street scene for many years and it is a desirable place to be seen. The club area plays mostly house music. The bar area upstairs is serviced by cocktail waitresses in short tight black dresses. (Unfortunately the male bar staff are not dressed the same.) There are sometimes live music events. Sydney's newest hot spot |
169 Oxford Street Saint Darlinghurst Sydney, NSW 2010 Australia +61 2 9331 7729 |
Full of muscle and lycra dancing away to handbag house, Tantra is slowly making its way up to one of the hippest clubs in Sydney. Friday night music varies but generally a mix of funky house, breaks and hip hop are spun. Admission AUD15-AUD25. Review © 2007, Wcities |
