Extra, extra... |
301 Church Street Parramatta Sydney, NSW 2150 Australia +61 2 9633 1188 |
The flagship City Extra cafe, at Circular Quay, has the sweeping postcard views of the harbour; this one at Parramatta has the surf - the cyber surf, that is. City Extra is a theme restaurant, with newspaper motifs and paraphernalia everywhere from the menus to the wall decorations to the bathroom doors. Old-fashioned advertisements and editorials remind you just how much change the last century has seen. The menu includes gourmet burgers, big salads, pastas, wicked cakes and towering iced chocolate concoctions. Additional Branch: Circular Quay. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Coo-ee! |
Shop 4, 260 Coogee Bay Road Coogee Sydney, NSW 2034 Australia |
This is the place to visit in Coogee if you want to slip in, send off an email, look up a site, and zip out again--back to the surf, or back to the dining scene that is taking Coogee by storm. Coogee Bay Online offers Internet access in broken-down increments. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Parramatta Pleasure |
18-40 Anderson Street Sydney, NSW 2150 Australia +61 2 989 112 77 http://www.marriott.com/hotels... |
The Courtyard Parramatta offers everything you'd expect from a well-known chain like Marriott: comfortable rooms, well-equipped (and sunny!) conference spaces, and even a heated outdoor pool. Although there is no fitness center on site, the Fitness First of Parramatta is less that one mile down the road, and Courtyard guests are granted complimentary access. You won't have to go far to get a good meal, either - right inside the hotel you'll find restaurant "twenty-one fifty" (open for breakfast and dinner), which serves international contemporary cuisine at very reasonable prices. Northside digi-caf |
197 Military Road, Shop 7 Neutral Bay Sydney, NSW 2089 Australia +61 2 9904 9999 |
In the heart of "yuppie-ville", The Digital Cafe is a spick and span little establishment with six private computers. Predominately an Internet service, there is a limited-item menu to keep you fuelled and refreshed. Toasted sandwiches start are worth a bite, or take advantage of the Muffin and Coffee or, for a French twist, Friande and Coffee specials. Plus, there is the usual selection of soft drinks and sports quenchers. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Fountain of information |
20 Darlinghurst Road Kings Cross Sydney, NSW 2011 Australia +61 (0)2 9358 6009 |
Located near the infamous fountain on the main drag of Kings Cross, the Fountain Cafe is an early opening, late closing favourite among the local community of backpackers, inner city dwellers and passing trade. Meals are basic but filling: spaghetti Bolognese and salad, hamburger, salad and chips. Internet access is a bargain. And with 41 terminals, getting online is not a problem. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Get the goss |
790 George Street Sydney, NSW 2000 Australia +61 (0)2 9212 4444 http://www.globalgossip.com.au |
Global Gossip is a slick little cyber centre. The bright orange and blue facades are becoming a familiar sight around town. Aimed at the backpacker market, with thumping music, hordes of Brits gathered around the terminals and a party atmosphere, this is probably not the place to come to take care of serious business. What you have to remember about Global Gossip is that travellers staff it. Some are ready, willing and able to assist, some unfortunately, are not. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Check In |
11a Clarke Street Crows Nest Sydney, NSW 2065 Australia +61 2 9438 5400 |
It is closer than most to earning the label "cafe" (coffee, tea and cake are available), but it is still an Internet connection rather than a place to dine. In addition to standard services such as scanning, printing and faxing, video conference facilities are ideal for that overseas job interview or wave of homesickness. Casual Internet access costs (ouch!) AUD9 per hour, but you can knock it down to AUD4 with an InCafe discount card. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Cheers! |
Level 2 236 Clarence Street Sydney, NSW 2000 Australia +61 (0)2 9261 5666 |
Like most Internet "cafes", this is not a cafe at all, but Hotel Sweeney is a pub. A beer or two can help provide inspiration while you are sending emails or working online. This was one of the very first cyber venues in Sydney and it is still as difficult as ever to get onto a computer, but you can drink downstairs in the main bar while you wait for a terminal to free up. It is more expensive than most but where else can you drink beer while you surf? Review © 2007, Wcities |

Wired for sound |
16-32 Oxford Street, Shop 1 Darlinghurst Sydney, NSW 2010 Australia +61 2 9331 4161 |
Internet On Oxford is a themed cyber cafe--and the theme in question varies from week to week. Depending on when you visit you could encounter jazz, disco, hip or trip hop, swing or techno. Like many of Sydney's inner city cyber hangouts, this venue is popular with backpackers, but, due to its cool factor, also has a big following with locals, especially the local gay community. There is no food available, but you can get drinks here--everything from Coke to Powerade. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Shop 1 175 Liverpool Street Sydney, NSW 2000 Australia +61 2 9267 4255 http://www.kinkos.com/ |
Kinko's, the small business owner's best friend, is expanding its global operations at a rapid rate. Kinko's offers a full suite of professional services: printing, scanning, copying, laminating, binding, stationery, as well as Internet access. Not the place if you are looking for a casual surf with the backpacking crowd. This is more like an office environment and the staff here really know what they are doing. Cost: Charged to a refillable card that you swipe each time you log on. Additional Branches: There are several branches in the city. Refer to www.kinkos.com for their locations. As well as delicious breakfast choices, lunch is a real treat. Salads include smoked salmon and grilled chicken. Focaccia comes packed with spicy salami and grilled red peppers. 99 Norton Street Leichhardt Sydney, NSW 2040 Australia +61 (0)2 9572 7766 http://www.shearersbookshop.co... |
Shearer's On Norton successfully combines the best that all good CD shops, booksellers and Internet centres can be, with a fantastic offering of all of the above, and great coffee besides. There is a good selection of Italian books and music (given Shearer's location in the heart of Little Italy). They also cover a huge selection of other categories including Australiana, children's books, computers, cooking, travel and history to name but a few. The bookshop has its own reading group and hosts regular authors evenings. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Switched on cafe |
35 Glebe Point Road Glebe Sydney, NSW 2037 Australia +61 2 9566 2655 |
One of Sydney's original cyber cafes Well Connected has a slick, retro-groovy lounge feel, fantastic food and laidback staff. Scrubbed wooden floors, bright colours, comfy 60s lounge suites and the latest in computer equipment. The fastest computers are downstairs, good for knocking out a quick email and the older models are upstairs in a collection of smaller rooms, perfect for composing creative masterpieces, or spending a few hours surfing. Access about AUD10 per hour. The food menu includes salads, lavish rolls, pastas, gourmet burgers and mini pizzas. Well Connected also do a wicked smoothie. Review © 2007, Wcities |
