Right up there with Cannes, this is a major event on the international circuit. Films are shown in main venues including State Theater, Greater Union George Street, Dendy Opera Quays, and Metro Theatre. With its emphasis on feature films, the festival also includes documentaries, shorts, animation and video, as well as debates and forums with movie makers and critics. Australian films are the attractions of the opening and closing nights. Cost: Prices vary according to screening; subscription tickets available. Check web site for details.
