Nothing short of tradition |
10080 Kennedy Road Greater Toronto Area Toronto, ON L6C 1N9 Canada +1 905 887 5157 http://www.angusglen.com/ |
The Angus Glen Golf Club was originally bought by Arthur Strolley, who ran a cattle farm on the property. Later it became a stud farm where he bred champion thoroughbreds. It was only as late as 1992 that a golf enthusiast himself, Strolley thought of converting it into a golf course. Today it is a hub of golfing activity and a venue for championships and tournaments. They have also taken over the management of the Markham Green golf club. Sunday brunches and Winemaker's dinner dance evenings on Fridays at Angus have a huge, loyal fan following. An inexpensive challenge |
550 Centennial Park Boulevard Etobicoke Toronto, ON M9C 4V1 Canada +1 416 620 1392 |
Anybody staying in the west end near Pearson International Airport and looking for a round has two rather distinct choices: the legendary and expensive Royal Woodbine, or this executive 18-hole par. The course's signature hole is number four, a 321-yard, dogleg right par 4 with an approach over water to a two-tiered green. There is a licensed clubhouse, snack bar, pro shop, driving range and chipping and putting greens. There is also mini-putt and video games for the kids. Green fees are subject to change and range from about CAD40-CAD70. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Tricky greens and water |
1000 Jane Street Toronto, ON M6N 4E2 Canada +1 416 392 2484 http://www.toronto.ca/parks/go... |
Opened in 1974, this executive course plays gentle enough for the beginner yet possesses tricky greens and water to make it a challenge for the low handicapper. From the white (back) tees the yardage is paced off at 3,749 and the par is 62. As the course is devoid of par fives, perhaps it might be best to leave the big dog in the trunk. There is a washroom/change room, a licensed restaurant and pro shop complete with club rentals. Green fees vary. Review © 2007, Wcities |
