Commemorates first settlers |
Lawrence Ave (at Brimley Road) Toronto, ON M1P 4N7 +1 416 396 7406 http://www.toronto.ca/parks/parks_gardens/thomsonmemorial.htm |
Opened in 1960, this park commemorates the site founded by the original settlers in the eastern Toronto section of Scarborough: the Thomson family, who arrived in 1796. And included on the site is the Scarborough Historical Museum (open 10am-5pm daily). One of the area's nicest parks, it offers a variety of activities including three lighted tennis courts, full-sized lighted soccer field, softball, a wading pool for kids and a petting zoo. It has four picnic shelters that can hold up to 675 people, ideal for family, team sports and office outings. Review © 2009, Wcities |
