Large disco & live concerts |
San Vicente, 305 Valencia 46007 Spain +34 96 382 2958 http://www.akuarela.com |
"This is a large disco where good Spanish music reigns supreme, although other music styles and rhythms are played. They also organize decent concerts by fairly new bands and singers all year long. The club attracts a fairly youngish crowd, mostly twenty-somethings. But everyone who comes here, comes to dance the night away and have a good time. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Alternative concerts & scene |
Jacinto Benavente, 5 Valencia 46005 Spain +34 96 382 6222 http://www.conexionspot.es/dis... |
If alternative and independent music is your thing, then Barracabar, in the Cánovas area, is the place where you belong. There's always a good scene to be found and, of course, good music. Plus, they have concerts on every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday after midnight. Not to be missed. Just to give you an idea of the type of music you'll hear, here are a few examples: Beck, Blur, Adorable, James, The Posies, Oasis, Mathew Sweet, Suede, Morphine, Radiohead, Big Soul, Manic Street Preacher, The Chemical Brothers, Edwyn Collins, Luna, Brad, Placebo, and many more. Prices are a bit higher than in other places, but the music (live or otherwise) is worth it. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Live music every night |
Polo y Peyrolon, 15 Valencia 46021 Spain +34 96 393 3663 |
Valencia's only live music venue that offers concerts nearly every day of the week. You'll hear mainly jazz, although bossa nova, blues, soul and even Latin groups turn up to play from time to time as well. It's a great place to hang out with friends and have a drink. If there's no live music on, you'll find the background music (soul, R&B, jazz or reggae) is more than a good enough substitute. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Brazilian atmosphere & show |
Calatrava, 12 Valencia 46001 Spain +34 96 392 3095 |
This locale is more than just a café-bar, it is a real show. Café Bahiano is the place to be if you want to experience a real Brazilian night. Everything will make you feel in Río de Janeiro, the drinks, the music and the atmosphere. The star drink here, not surprisingly, is caipirinha. And if you drop by on a Friday or Saturday night, sip on your drink while listening to a live band from Brazil. If you're the daring sort, clear a space for yourself to dance in. There are live tango shows every Thursday. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Beer & Live Jazz Concerts |
Abadía de San Martín, 10 Valencia 46002 Spain +34 96 352 9671 |
The Madrid is a great place to have a quiet beer with your friends and listen to live jazz or poetry readings. The atmosphere is both pleasent and calm. This space is divided into open booths in a circle with a wooden table in the middle, providing a bit of privacy, while the walls are decorated with old posters. The speciality of this bar is definitely the "Agua de Valencia" and the variety of their beers. The age group of clientele ranges between 20 and 30 year olds. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Celtic music |
Vinalopó, 11 Valencia 46021 Spain +34 96 362 6867 |
Come to this pub for the best Celtic music and tradition. They organize special parties (with gifts!) and live concerts by international and local bands. If you want to see what a real Irish pub is like, come here. It's a very recommended spot. As for drinks, there's a wide variety to choose from: from cider and orujo (high-power liqueur from the north of Spain) to 50 different brands of Irish whisky. But what's an Irish pub without beer? Well, here you'll find a good assortment of beers on tap. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Big bar with theme parties |
Santa Teresa, 19 Valencia 46001 Spain +34 96 392 2061 |
This nice and spacious bar located in the old quarter of the city, has for many years been a popular place. The owners, Luis and Iggy, continually organize theme nights that vary from different kinds of music, theater, performances, or live bands. In the summer you will be more than happy with the air conditioning provided and the large space to move around in. The decoration is very minimalist, with only tables and individual stools. It attracts easy-going people between the ages of 25 and 45. Besides the 2 bars, there is a pool table, darts and a fabulous space on the second floor which you can rent for parties, dinners, courses or any other type of event. On Tuesday afternoons, for example, there are tai-chi classes. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Huge club & great concerts |
San Vicente, 200 Valencia 46007 Spain +34 96 380 3852 |
The Roxy Club has changed its name to Mirror. Despite the name change, this venue continues to be one of the best night clubs in Valencia. Mirror organizes a wide range of activities to liven up your nights. They are famous for their disco nights, "Single Sessions", from Friday to Saturday, but this is also THE venue for live concerts by well-known national and international groups. On disco nights, they bring in a very mixed clientele, while the DJ plays the best of contemporary dance music. When concerts are on, doors open at 11pm (check for ticket prices). Mirror, as you can tell, it is not called the "Illusions Factory" for nothing. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Live local bands |
Avenida Campoamor, 52-54 Valencia 46022 Spain |
If you like good rock, then Sonora is the place for you. They've always got good music on and there's a good scene. Sonora also works as a venue for local bands primarily who play here before making it big. Who knows? In a few years' time you might be able to say you knew x band before they made it. Lots of record presentations, conferences, parties, and more are organized here. It's a very recommended place. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Irish pub with live music |
Gran Vía Marqués del Turia, 69 Valencia 46005 Spain +34 96 351 3642 |
This Irish pub pretty much looks like all the others out there, but it is a nice place to come to have a drink with friends. But drinking is not your only option here. On Saturday nights they have live concerts, and you can even take in a Premiere League match if you want to. Drinks range from standard beers such as Guinness, to a good variety of Scottish whiskies. They also make a really good Irish coffee. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Victorian decor & live music |
Pizarro, 31 Valencia 46004 Spain +34 96 351 7578 |
One of this bar's main attractions is without a doubt its decor. It's made out to look like the set of a horror film with the action taking place in the 19th century. The thick red curtains hanging from the walls, mirrors all over the place, candelabras and much more all add to this effect. The other appeal here is the live music. From Sunday to Tuesday, it's a piano bar, and on Wednesday night's they have live jazz sessions. The rest of the week (Thursday to Saturday), it's a good place to come for a drink and dance to the music if you can make room for yourself. Review © 2007, Wcities |
