Los Angeles, 33 El Cabañal Valencia 46011 Spain +34 96 356 2292 |
This is a private theatre that bases its productions on the old tradition of puppetry. The shows are produced by its own theatre company, La Estrella (the star), who at the same time directs the productions. In the hall, there is a very nice exhibit of marionettes. If the kids are bored, bring them here and they will have a wonderful time. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Avant-garde theater |
Guillem de Castro, 73 Valencia 46008 Spain +34 96 392 0786 |
"This historic theatre is located inside the Sociedad Coral building, el Micalet, its namesake. Just a short time ago, this theater was the point of reference for the new avant-guard independent Valencian theatre groups. It is still remembered fondly by its fans as much as by the professionals. The Micalet also offer productions and workshops for students. The entrance fee and schedule change with each production." Review © 2007, Wcities |

Experimental theater and cinema |
Plaza del Ayuntamiento, 17 Edificio Rialto Valencia 46002 Spain +34 96 353 9300 |
This small hall located right in the center of Valencia, in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, belongs to a chain of theaters owned by the Valencian government. It is situated in the same building as the Sala Rialto. Because of its small size, its possibilities are limited, therefore it specializes in avant-garde productions. It is used mostly by Valencian theater groups who put on experimental performances with unique staging arrangements, although on occasion you'll find vanguard groups from other places. It also serves as a cinema where they show new or never-seen cultural films. The entrance fee and schedule change according to the production. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Cinema converted into a theater |
Plaza del Ayuntamiento, 17 Edificio Rialto Valencia 46002 Spain +34 96 353 9300 |
In the 80s, a lot of old theatres were converted into multi-plexes. Here, however, the opposite occurred. This well known cinema was transformed into a theater by the Valencian government. It's in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento and is now the headquarters of the Dramatic Center of the Valencian government. Today, it is one of the several theater spaces run by the local government, and it puts on reasonably high quality shows and performances by companies from the Valencian province and other national and international groups. The entrance fee and schedule vary acording to the show. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Recently renovated theater |
Caballeros, 31 Valencia 46001 Spain +34 96 391 2920 |
This old theater was formerly for the working class. It was purchased and renovated by the Valencian government and only very recently reopened its doors. Fortunately, the remodelling undertaken did not destroy the modernist decor, but in fact, served to highlight its beauty. Since its re-opening, it has become a much appreciated theater by both the general public and the actors who say that they love working there. They have put on various musical and classical productions giving it a very Valencian feel. Review © 2007, Wcities |
