Aromas from a traditional kitchen
Correjería, 28
Valencia 46001
Spain
+1 34 96 315 5250
This magnificent old 17th-century palace has been converted into an excellent restaurant that specializes in both traditional and modern Valencian cuisine. Gracious dining is in a sumptuous dining room decorated in centuries old style. The best things on the menu are the homemade desserts such as mango mousse which is cottage cheese served with fruits of the forest jelly and the chocolate orange bomb.

Bruselas

Central restaurant with a varied menu & breakfast
San Vicente Mártir, 35
Valencia 46001
Spain
+34 96 394 1035
A very European name for this central coffee shop and restaurant located close to the train station and the bullring. Its specialities include sandwiches, tapas and combo platters, but for those who want something a bit sturdier, they also offer an à la carte menu and a special set menu at the weekends. The decor is classic and has paid careful attention to the details. Prices are quite reasonable in spite of its central location. It's a good place for a break or to start your tour of Valencia. It gets quite busy at midday and weekends, so you'd better book in advance.

Casa Navarro

Restaurant on the beach
Avenida Mare Nostrum, 141
Playa de Alboraya
Valencia 46120
Spain
+34 96 372 0027
Situated facing the Mediterranean sea on Alboraya beach and with the soft breeze, could there be any place better than this to dine on typically Valencian cuisine of delicious seafood and fish? And not only fish and seafood of the best quality, but also meat and all that is part of the well-known Mediterranean diet are the specialties of this great restaurant. The wine list is standard to good, with mainly Spanish wines. It's open all year round, and they organize barbecues on weekend nights starting in March. Prices are good, service is nice and the atmosphere, typically Mediterranean.

Gambrinus

Great variety of beers and tapas
plaza de la Reina, 19
Valencia 46003
Spain
+34 96 392 3191
Just a five minute-walk from the centre, this is a popular bar. It's divided into two different parts: at the entrance, it's a tapas bar, where you can choose from a wide variety of beers and order some of the tapas they serve, such as fried baby squid, cuttlefish, Spanish omelette, Spanish spicy chorizo sausage and more. The decor is rustic in style, with huge beer barrels as tables. In addition to the variety of food, there is a good mix of music, ranging from flamenco to African beats, jazz and reggae, too. At the back, there is a traditional restaurant serving Spanish dishes. They have an excellent wine list, as well, among which the Via Aurelia stands out.

This restaurant is a fifteen-minute car ride from Valencia, situated in a residential area with fantastic views. You can enjoy a good meal while surrounded by Nature, breathing fresh pine-scented air. The Hotel Lido serves the best of traditional Valencian dishes, that is, the healthy and well-known Mediterranean diet, made up of all kinds of rice combined with meat, fish and vegetables. The house specialty is called Rossetjat Torrentí, based on rice, chickpeas, potatoes and meat. They also serve an ample selection of wines. Without a doubt, this restaurant is an ideal choice for those who wish to leave the city behind for a couple of hours.

Lizarrán

Typical Basque restaurant
Convento Santa Clara, 9
Valencia 46001
Spain
+34 96 351 6743
In the centre of Mediterranean and sunny Valencia, this Basque tavern stands out, bringing all the style and taste of the far north, to remind us of the great variety and contrasts that exist within the Spanish territory. If its classic, typical and a bit rustic decoration recreates the Basque atmosphere, its exquisite menu represents the best of northern cuisine, in which fish dishes and its speciality, bacalao al pil-pil (delicious codfish recipe) stand out. They offer a late breakfast menu and a fantastic daily menu, making this restaurant the paradise for fish and Basque cuisine lovers.

This is a long-established restaurant that has been serving excellent paellas and seafood since 1888. One of its spacious dining rooms offers a lovely view of the Mediterranean. It has become one of the most sought after caterers for wedding receptions, business dinners and other special occasions. The wine list has a decent selection to choose from. The restaurant's reputation has spread far and wide and its facilities have expanded to include new private dining rooms and air conditioning.

Palmar

Former island of the L'Albufera
Autovia Sue de Valenci
Valencia 46012
Spain
+34 96 162 0066
El Palmar, which was an island in L'Albufera natural reserve until the lagoon was partially dried in the mid-Forties, is a must for those looking for the most beautiful scenery south of Valencia. You can also enjoy local cuisine here: all i pebre de anguilas (baby eels with garlic and pepper) and espardenyà. The scenic route runs between Dehesa Forest and the lake, crossing fields and palisades covered with rosebays. The fishing community, the annual lottery for fishing privileges (redolín), and the pilgrimage to Cristo de la Salut (Christ of Good Health) celebrated in the lluent (center of the lake), are traditions that live on, as if taken straight from one of Sorolla's costumbrista paintings.

Samaruch

Mediterranean restaurant on the beach
Paseo Neptuno, 58
Valencia 46011
Spain

To be on the Mediterranean coast without visiting its beaches is unforgivable. And so it is, once you are here, not to sit down close to the sea and taste the best it has to offer us, such as the top quality fish and seafood that this restaurant situated on Las Arenas beach has on offer. This is the main beach in the city, with a wide range of touristy and fun things to do. Samaruch has been redecorated and modernized to offer its clientel the best quality, both in its specialties (rice, meats and fish) and the relaxed atmosphere that they have created. Prices are great, and the sea and surroundings do the rest.

Santa Bárbara

Restaurant near universitary
Blasco Ibáñez, 29
Valencia 46010
Spain
You'll find this fantastic restaurant in the most modern area of the city and just opposite the main university. It is very-well known by professionals and students alike, plus it has the added benefit of an open air terrace for dining outdoors when weather permits. On the menu, it serves a great variety of all kind of dishes, but features excellent Valencian cuisine: Giant prawns with ham, home made broth, various rice dishes, fresh fish...and to round off your meal, try one of the restaurant's delicious and exclusive desserts. From the wine menu, a good white wine is recommended. Prices will depend on the dish, without ever being too high, and both the quality and atmosphere have never disappointed anybody. If you come, you will see why it is so popular.

Sargantana offers local traditional cuisine in a tiny, quaint setting. The wooden floor, brick walls, high ceiling and widely-set tables give it a very home-like atmosphere. Hot appetizing meals are served, accompanied by chilled Spanish wines; other European brands are also available. During summer you can choose to sit on the open terrace. Private events like parties, wine-tasting, and corporate meetings can be arranged here.

Sidrería el Molinón

Good food from the north
Bolseria, 40

This ciderhouse has been open for 16 years in the historic center of Valencia. The atmosphere is informal and typically Asturian. It is small with wood-paneled walls, sausages and ham hanging over the bar, and sawdust covering the floor. The clientele varies in age from 20 to 50 year olds. This restaurant has Asturian tapas and from the north in general, as well as typical dishes such as chorizo sausage cooked in cider, lacon (boiled ham with paprika), Asturian cheese, and fabada (pork and white bean stew) on Wednesdays. Good fish, rice & salads
Plaza Picadero dos Aguas, 3
Valencia 46002
Spain
+34 96 352 9414
This excellent restaurant which keeps alive traditional customs specializes in "fabada" (pork and white bean stew), traditional rice dishes, and the most recommended red mullet (fish). The menu also includes a large variety of meats, salads, fish, and rice, with a special dish every day of the week. You cannot make reservations, therefore it is suggested that you arrive early because it is very popular (both for its prices and the food). The service is quick, friendly and efficient. The decoration is simple and without any type of fuss.
