One of Vancouver's most chic rooms is found in the lobby of the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. After a multimillion-dollar renovation, this elegant spot was reconstructed into a lounge and wine bar. This welcoming Gastown bistro is as close as you will get to Dublin in Vancouver. Specializing in whiskey and beer, it has been raved about since opening in 1998. Sit down to a small meal of Baked Hazelnut Crusted Goat Cheese (CAD7), or go for the bigger and more classic Bangers and Mash (CAD14). Dinners range from CAD13 to CAD18. Even James Joyce's favourite sandwich is on the menu. Enjoy live music that will keep your eyes smiling, whether they are Irish or not. Oddly enough the lunch menu becomes available again each night from 10PM-midnight.

Theatre Under The Stars

Canada's first permanent open-air theatre

Stanley Park's Malkin Bowl has been home to this drama guild for nearly six decades. Large-scale Broadway productions like The King and I and Oklahoma marked its first years. It closed down in 1963 due to inclement weather but re-opened its doors in 1969 with help from volunteers, businessmen and a local amateur theatre group. The Theatre Under The Stars Musical Society now operates the theatre. I holds two major productions every summer with a cast and crew of non-professionals and volunteers.

The Clagary Rugby Union has tussled on this stadiums' grounds. Radiohead has also given a thundering performance here. The Thunderbird Stadium, a 3,200 seater is one of Vancouver's prime entertainment venues. Be it sports events or musical performances - this place has hosted it all. One of the venue's unforgettable moments in history is during a Rugby Churchill Cup Final. Three guys ran across the field absolutely nude!
